A lovely and authentic restaurant. You can see the microbrewery vats while you are having dinner if you are seated at the back. Try the pork knuckle or the braised pork cheeks absolutely delicious, and of course, try the beer! Knowledgeable and hip waiters! View all feedback.
What izymassage E doesn't like about Restaurant Fischerstube:
Food was excellent, the risotto and veggie burger (although I don 't see putting a sandwich on a halved pretzel with the holes!! Vs Pretzel roll/bun). The server with excellent English was congenial and great. Problem was the host, owner, manager, seater, maitre, whatever.... Was an arrogant ___. Had the beer sausage and potato salad. Other options were steak or salad. You have to check everything with the waiter.
We were in this brew-pub more than 20 years ago, and returned back today. Nothing has changed, still the same cozy neighborhood atmosphere. Most guests were locals, which is a good sign. The pike (egli) on asparagus and Hollandaise was delicious. The these days hard to find sour livers (suuri läberli) on rösti was as it should be, just perfect. For dessert the rhubarb bieramisu (no, this is not a typo) hit the sweet-sour spot precisely. For drinks I had the 4-beer sampler, followed by a full dose of the one I liked the most among them, a procedure I would recommend. Service was friendly and attentive. We will come back, for sure before another 20 years.
Well, I have visited this restaurant before and so went back to see if the experience before was one off or whether it was consistent. Pleased I went back! I had the liver and rosti, for my main. The starter of the winter salad was a good indication of what was to come. Simple with a nice dressing. The dining may not be 'fancy ' but the food was really well done. And the jus that accompanied the dish was so so tasty. I followed up with the pear struesel which was accompanied by a serving of ice-cream. To describe the dessert as a sort of pear-Sponge doesn 't do it justice. So so nice. Maybe could be a bit more moist but I was happy. Staff were a bit cool on entry because busy but they warmed up and had a lovely chat at the end. When back in Basel, I am heading back. If heading there I would highly recommend.

I simply nicely requested seating away from smokers on patio. What I received was arms thrown up in the air, you are in nature, surrounded by air with sweeping arms. We did sit away a bit, ordered beers food. What did ___ do?? Purposelessly sat TWO smokers upwind next table chairs touching from us just before our food arrived.
A beautifully warm welcome from host and staff. Menu was extensive, I chose the fish, of course, and mustard soup. They brew their own beer, very tasty.
