We sat on the terrace which was nice in still covupid time. We ordered the crispy fish and French fries and the club sandwich. Th e fish was ok, the sauce and French fries were good. The clubsandwich had rather tasteless chicken, the rest was good. With a small beer and A realy small glass of chardonnay for 70 sf an ok dinner, but real Swiss prices. Very friendly service.
Since I was on the go in my professional life as a journalist for several years as a gastrocritic, I tend to with superlative rather to withstand. from this I am now turning off: the caspar’s is in basel the restaurant with the best price/performance ratio. all a bit old fashioned, remembering an epoche in which the gast was still really king. I have remained in a special memory: pasta on a delicate lemon foam cream, lamb pieces, as desserts a variation of cherry and white chocolate mousse. what I liked especially: the selection on the menu card is clear. so you can be sure that on everything the proper care is used in the preparation.
The menu they offer is very basic, such as fish nuggets with fries or Falafel burger, but they ask good money for it. The price doesn’t match the quality of food.
I came without looking at the rating… the mushroom risotto was very tasty, the presentation was nice, the prices were high but the portion was large. I was satisfied. Since the interior decoration belongs to the hotel, it could have been nicer and more comfortable. Still, it was good. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3 Price per person: CHF 20–30
