Cheval Blanc - Basel

I was organizing a Dinner for 12 people and the restaurant was not able to organize a menue. The service suggested a single menue for all which is not what is expected from a restaurant of this level because we had vegetarian in the group.

Exceptional 60th birthday celebration Is the best way to describe this experience. Seated with the view of the river, the extraordinary attention provided by the host and wait staff and of course the five star quality food from appetizer to desert. (Don’t miss the Limoncello sorbet). This is what European fine dining is and why I’m glad I was able to experience it for my 60th birthday dinner.

We had a large group dinner at this restaurant which has great views of the Rhine river. We had to make reservations well in advance and were obliged to select one of five tasting menus in advance. They restaurant team was kind enough to allow us to have two options for the main entree in the tasting menu. The 5 course tasting menu proved to be excellent. The service was also excellent with a very energetic, enthusiastic waiter and a highly knowledgeable sommelier. The wine list is substantial with many great choices from Switzerland and nearby Alsace as well as other major regions of France, Italy, and Spain.

There’s nothing to say except the fact that i am always enjoying my time every time I go to my favorite place ever, thank you for everything, can’t wait to be back ! Love, cheers, Eliane .

The sequence: 1) We waited 15 minutes to receive the menu card 2) The waiter has very limited knowledge of wines. He proposed us one white wine, which is not our preferred. He said that he would bring the wine card, but he did not. After 10 minutes, a woman came with the same bottle we did not want. 3) We waited 1 hour and 40 minutes to receive the main course. 4) The two menus were disappointing. The meat was far too big for a woman and the fish had no taste. 5) I had to insist in receiving a credit card receipt, which took them 10 Minutes. Normally it comes out immediately. Very bad experience.
