This was a pleasant little find during a hectic train ride filled day. There is a counter to order a sandwich or slice of pizza from the train station but there is also a quieter small dining area inside.Our waiter was kind enough to let us sit inside while we finished our pizza and sandwich. We had 35 minutes for our train connection, so we decided to have some cold drinks and a quick lunch at Le Central. We asked our waitress for the quickest thing that could be prepared and paninis were suggested. They came very fast indeed, but it was all but inedible – tough on the outside and chewy on the inside, and very bland. Service was excellent, but we wouldn't suggest the paninis from this place!We came down the escalator and went in via the side door, not realising that there was another entrance with a rotating door. However, neither entrance is convenient for travellers with suitcases.
Au Central, en fait, on vous sert à manger quelque chose qui a été produit/chauffé à la Brasserie Bahnhof...ce qui explique probablement que ce n'était pas très chaud. Et si vous avez besoin d'aller au petit coin, il va falloir traverser le Central, ressortir dans le hall de gare, marcher 20 m. traverser la Brasserie Bahnhof et vous rendre aux wc en espérant que personne ne vous arrête pour vous dire que les wc sont réservés aux clients! Vous êtes client, mais du Central...Bref. Très compliqué. La prochaine fois, j'irai directement à la Brasserie ;-)Pour ce qui est de la restauration, en plus de pas assez chaud, nous avons trouvé cher pour ce qu'il y avait dans l'assiette :-( Ma saucisse de veau accompagnée d'un filet de sauce aux oignons et de Rösti pour une part carbonisés pour l'autre crus ne m'a pas repue. D'ailleurs, j'avais faim 1h plus tard. L'escalope panée de mon mari n'était vraiment pas épaisse et avec peu d'accompagnements également. Mouais, vraiment médiocre. Juste un point pour le personnel, mais sans plus.

If you are in the train station, are hungry and have a bit of time I recommend taking your meal break here.
The restaurant, operated by candrian catering at the basel station (bahnhof sbb basel) of sbb, we visited repeatedly and on 22.05. 2017 naposled. (this is not yet untouched that it will be viewed for several years (see link) - on 23.05. 2017 closed its doors for a longer period with regard to the reconstruction of this railway station.) We tried spargelcremesuppe (cream asparág soup, 9,50 chf,) burger mit rindfleisch, avocado, eisbergsalat und hausgemachter servedauce (burgers with beef, avocado, ice salad and homemade cocktail sauce, 26,0 chf) and erdinger weissbier (heat beer erdinger, 9,50 chf) and we did not regret. In addition to the excellent kitchen, we were surprised by the Slovak speaking staff. Young ( 20 years old) I worked in this restaurant, during my passage to base on May 31, 2017 for leisure, I wanted to go back to the brewery, so I went to the station, the location of the restaurant was in work, I spoke with a worker who told me that the brewery had not existed for 4 years ( 2013 ) than all the equipment, dishes ect. had been sold, that once the work was finished, the name, the decoration ect .... the more nothing will remain of the old brewery, I was very disappointed obviously, but good 40 years we passed, I now have 60 years .......
