We were there for dinner a week ago. We stayed in the courtyard, which was very cute (could have used a little more romantic decoration) Everything was clean, conditions were very nice and attentive. The food was very, very good. I have to admit, we hadn 't eaten anything all day and were hungry, but even without hunger, the food was very good. Really recommended, we had entrecot Cafe du Paris and it not only looked very tasty, but it was very good, the butter sauce was homemade and we had to order more because it was so good. Tartar which we had as a starter was also delicious.
Very nice restaurant with good local cuisine. The food was very good. You can choose the size of the portions, although even the smaller portion was enough for me. The prices were very fair. We were in the restaurant which is beautifully decorated with dark wood, but still pleasantly bright. It also has an inner courtyard which is also very inviting when the weather is right. The staff is very friendly and attentive.

This is a charming restaurant with an American theme, that was kind of fun for us Americans, but it 's definitely Swiss style food. Very good food, actually. I had a garlic steak (knoblauch steak) and my husband had the Rindfleisch Basler Art (which is small pieces of beef in a sauce with späetzle), and my son had the BLT burger. All were great. My only food complaint were the farmer style potatoes that I had which had clearly come from a freezer bag. Everything else was of excellent quality, though. Don 't skip dessert! Their desserts were exceptional. I 'd go back to have the apfelkuechli again (fried apple rings in cinnamon and sugar). All in all, a great find in Basel.
I spent the evening with my business friends in the lovely garden of the restaurant Aeschenplatz. They serve delicious food for reasonable prices. Moreover, the several candles, the flowers and the nice service created a wonderful atmosphere. Previous years I made a mistake by going to the most known restaurants (like Kunsthalle for example) during the ART Basel and I was always disappointed. The restaurant Aeschenplatz is defenitely an insider tip in Basel. Thank you.
Tired of not knowing where to eat, read the review so decided to have dinner here. We made the right choice! Friendly staff and great tasting food at an affordable price! Definitely would eat here again.
I was promised good traditional Swiss cuisine by my companion who took me to this restaurant, and that 's what we got! No frills or extravagant decorations. Just basic traditional Swiss food, which is exactly what I was craving for! The rustic interior reminded me of my childhood in Switzerland, and so did the delicious food! I ordered the Zurich Geschnetzeltes with Roeschti (no doubt as traditionally Swiss as it can get... , and it was a fabulous choice!
Whenever I go to Basel to give a lecture at the University, I head to the Aeschenplatz because it's one place where I know I can go home again. The Hilton might be gone, but Aeschenplatz survives and thrives largely due to the absolute dedication of its owner. You'll be able to tell who she is because she's the one visiting every table, offering a welcome and checking on food. She's a human perpetual motion machine distributing good cheer. And you can eat there! I usually choose from the Swiss part of the menu. I almost always eat hackbraten, a bit like a meatloaf, with green pepper sauce and spaetzli, small dumpling like delights. But sometimes I'll slip over to the American side and have a taco salad fresh and wonderful. I also always meet friends there. Some of them have been going there for over 20 years; I'm working on it. It looks inside like a beer hall with wide open spaces and beamed ceilings. The walls are art full. In the good seasons you can sit outside in the front and watch the crazed traffic at the Aeschenplatz, or you can retreat into the inner courtyard, where summer seems light and welcoming. If you visit Basel and want to step into a little bit of cosmopolitan Switzerland, drop by the Aeschenplatz. If you live in Basel and haven't been there why not!

Super selection and neither too small nor too large, as it was the perfect size. Very pleasant, great business. Since it is also like shopping, Of course it is not for car drivers. Nice business with great attention to detail. I'm always happy there.
Great place for lunch! They offer different lunch menus every day. I recommend her roast with bratwurst and don't forget to tell the waiter to add a sunny side on the plate!
The Cordon Bleu was very delicious. The fries not so they were dry and tasted old. Also, we were given a micro mini ketchup pack with a mountain of fries. Service was good, our waiters were friendly and polite. The price was not as advertised on their wall XXL Cordon Bleu CHF 21.90. Nope... it was CHF 26.90 so don't let that rope you in. Also, I ordered a cup of hot water with a slice of lemon and was charged heftily for it! Gotta love Switzerland for that.
