Very interesting place from a natural and historical point of view, if you are interested in taking the same steps of revolutionaries. We pass through the house of Fidel and for several refuges of revolutionaries. There is a possibility to take the trip on a day or 2 or 3 days. We saw the places where the Revolution began and it seemed very interesting. However, from the company Ecotur (with the owners of Casa Sierra Maestra) we were assured that the visit to the Silver Command cost 57 Euros per person. We knew from the Lonely Planet guide that was the price of a top tour, with more locations to visit and with the included transport (we were already there and had a car to get up). We were approximately 2 hours waiting for the lady who is in the office of Ecotur of Santo Domingo to authorize us to enter, paying 22 Euros per person and NOT PERMITING THAT WE ARE IN THE COCHE. We climbed the 5 kilometers of cost that are usually done by car, walking and 35 degrees. It's a shame for tourists to be fooled, even though we were the only tourists in the area, because there was absolutely no one.
A place full of nature and history, nature and culture. Thanks to Anley Rosales Benítez from Bayamo Travel Agent (Bayamo, Granma, Cuba) and his whole team (drivers and guides) special thanks to the farmer that opened his humble but beautiful house with that lovely view and the amazing coffee making experience. The visit to this place its a high light trip in the Eastern Cuba.
With 3,000 meters Pico Duarte is the highest peak in the Dominican Republic and all the Caribbean but roaming around the highest point in Cuba, just under 2,000 meters, is an extraordinary adventure, where you may meet some of the kindest people on earth and while this is where the so-called revolution was set afoot, many folks still live without electricity or basic comforts, ironic, since it was them who fed Fidel Che and the lot, one way or another. But while that was long ago, here in Turquinolandia it seems like just last week.

On the contrary, the 1 day trip is feasible for everyone is a 6km journey
