Agüizotes - Barrio Mexico Costa Rica

I had the fish and chips. The fish was meaty, not over breaded, and so flavorful. The fries were deelish too!! I also ordered the tomato soup. It was way too big of a portion, but what I sampled was soooo good, too. The restaurant was slow when we were there on this day, so the service was superb. We had this wonderful simple meal at the end of our first, and not the last, trip to Costa Rica!

This place is so great. Novel takes on local quinine, reasonable (low? prices compared to less great fare in the area, and the best non Imperial beer I’ve had in Costa Rica (their rotating craft beer when I visited . Food recs from my waiter included some fried cheese over black beans, which is elevated with a spiced oil and sliced tomatoes; as well as a stuffed plantain with fried pork. Soooooo good. Love it.

I had a meat craving and a friend took me here. I had their steak sandwich and it made me so happy! It was so messy, and that sandwich is so overfilled with meat and cheese!! And it was delicious for what I was looking for. There was nothing refined about this dish, but it was pure hedonistic joy. The alcohol free cocktail of watermelon and passion fruit was very tasty (although a bit too sweet for my palate). The waiter was so lovely and kind. I look forward to go back when I've got another meat craving.

It's basically a Moscow mule but with some different flavors added in and that cool color that fits the name
