What heathrowm doesn't like about Taj Bistro, Barrie.:
Pre-ordered the Mother’s Day special. Turned up on time to be told that they didn’t have a record of my order. Insisted that I must have called the Sudbury store (like I don’t know the difference between a long distance call). Had to wait 25 minutes for the order. Got home to find that they forgot the naan bread. Two of the entrée were basically curry soup with 3 incredibly small pieces of meat. The Simosas were cold... View all feedback.
We ordered via doordash this evening for the first time...something we havent done with any restaurant since March due to Covid. Not sure of portion sizes, we got 2 large curries for the grown ups and a medium plus biryani for the kids to share. Firstly...wayyyyy too much food. Unless you like a lot to eat...one large if youre having rice and naan as well is plenty for 2 adults. Garlic naans were really good. Truly delicious. We had butter chicken which was fab and also a chicken tikka masala for the grown ups. The tikka masala tasted great although was really spicy and had a lot of grease. Not unexpected with an indian but also not really needed so a bit less heat and oil and this wouldve been amazing. Kids had a mild korma which was delicious. we also ordered a biryani...was too spicy for everyone. Having never had one before Im guessing its meant to be that hot but even with some yoghurt it was too much for everyone. In summary...we really enjoyed it. Great portions, lovely naan...just everything was very spicy so maybe ask for it all mild! Oh...one other thing with Covid. We loved that everything came in foil or aluminium trays so we could blast it in the oven for 3 or 4 minutes when it arrived for peace of mind.
We ordered butter chicken with rice. The food is only so so 3 stars at most. What really turned me off is that their cashier who handles coins and bills grabbed a handful of rice with his bare hand before microwaving and serving. We left the rice and left even though we paid 6$ for a small bowl.
I love ordering from Taj! They have the best Indian food in Barrie. PLENTY of vegan options as well! Friendly staff and easy to order online. They even offer 15% off when you order online and pick up in store. 10/10 recommend!
We stopped here for take-out and walked to the waterfront to eat. The customer service was great and the food was delicious. We had the butter chicken, lentils and naan bread. Lots of flavour and I would definitely go back.
Got takeout: the veggies were freezer burned and cold in the middle shocked at how little meat. It was all sauce and not hot as requested 3 ounces of shrimp 4 ounces of chicken in two entrees bill was $80.00! Order was packed so poorly it was a sopping mess when delivered. Can't believe a place could be worse than Tara's well this place is.
