Mestizo Louisiana Mexican Cuisine

Tried this place for the first time for lunch. The menu was filled with veggie options, which made my day! I had the redfish lunch special and plantains. The food was flavorful, and the portions were generous. Dietary restrictions: All items were clearly labels for a variety of dietary needs.

There is Mexican and there’s MESTIZOS!!! Truly, Mestizos can not be compared to any other! The vibe alone sets it above all other Mexican restaurants. Tasteful pieces of art with color splashed inviting you to relax and enjoy! Start with a happy hour carafe and you will forget what is happening outside the doors! Food options never disappoint! I had Scallops with Mole Verde Sauce. It truly is a culinary work of the chef. The scallops and shrimp were fresh and tasty, coupled with the Mole Verde that compliments and heightens the flavors in each bite! DELICIOUS is an understatement! My husband was just as pleased with his choice, The Fajita bowl with the protein Trio! We love this place! We brought friends for their first time experience! They said “Let’s do this again, SOON” Nathan, our server, was attentive, keeping glasses full and table tidy with a smile!!

The biriani tacos were very underwhelming -lacking in flavor and very small amount of au jus. The Tres leches was decent. The salsa provided had absolutely no flavor and tasted more like marinara.

Been a customer since they open 25 years ago. Always excellent.

First time eating at this place and really nothing bad to say. The food is really good! Service was a little off. The waitress messed up a few things we ordered and fixed it. I would most definitely will come back.
