The food was outstanding, earning a perfect score of 5/5—every bite was delicious and well-prepared. The service was equally impressive, deserving another 5/5; the staff was friendly and attentive, making my visit even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was pleasant, rated at 4/5; it was inviting and comfortable, although there’s a little room for improvement. Overall, I highly recommend this place for a delightful lunch!.

What Kurt Cortez dislikes about King Mackerel:
The smell in the car on the way home was overwhelming. We attempted to clean and cook the fish, but our house was soon filled with a foul, ammonia-like odor. Ultimately, we had to throw it out. The waitress gave us a strange look, and the owner appeared rather amused to see unfamiliar patrons in Barnwell. Overall, this experience was disappointing. View all feedback.

I had a wonderful dining experience at King Mackerel Seafood and Restaurant in Barnwell, SC! The fried flounder and popcorn shrimp were absolutely delicious. The restaurant has a charming atmosphere with options for both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was exceptionally friendly, and their Southern hospitality really added to the enjoyment of the meal. I will definitely be returning for more tasty seafood!

A family member recommended this restaurant to us, and we’re so pleased we decided to give it a try! It’s a charming little place with just four tables, but the service was exceptional and the food was incredibly tasty. I tried the Jalapeno Pineapple Burger, which was amazing—made with a fresh, handcrafted hamburger patty instead of a frozen one. My husband had the Seafood Feast, and it absolutely lived up to its name, featuring fish, clams, scallops, shrimp, oysters, and two sides. Overall, it was a lovely dining experience, and we will definitely come back!
