We discovered this beautiful little gem purely by accident. Hidden away in the forest near to Honfleur, we spent a perfect evening in the gardens with a few other guests amongst beautifully lit clear pools of the natural spring. The food was excellent, service attentive...but discrete. With a bottle of Sancerre the bill was just over We will certainly be returning. Thank you. View all feedback.
What Anneli U doesn't like about Auberge de la Source:
Upon arriving at the restaurant at the scheduled time, I discovered that the table I had reserved was given away to someone else. To make matters worse, the waitress who handled my reservation didn't even bother to apologize for the inconvenience caused. Instead, she seemed dismissive and uninterested, which immediately put a damper on the entire evening. Unfortunately, based on this recent experience, I'm hesitant t... View all feedback.
In 2014, we spent three nights at the Auberge. And while the property is breathtakingly beautiful, what really blew us away was the brilliance of the food. So when we planned a 2017 return trip with friends, I knew we wanted to have dinner at the Auberge. It evolved into a special "Farewell To Normandy" for the eight of us as I was able to work with the staff to create a special menu for our group (for a PHENOMENAL price - five courses for less than 50 euros/person, service included!). And just like three years before, every single course was absolutely mouth-watering with local/seasonal ingredients. Additionally, their wine list was both extensive from regions all over France, but it offered a wide range of price so you can spend a little or a lot, but with good quality wines in either category. It was the perfect conclusion to our stay in Normandy and while I would recommend staying there, you at least must dine here! BTW, TA asks if the cost is mid-range or fine-dining. This was difficult to answer because while the EXPERIENCE is fine-dining, I would say the cost was more mid-range (and it definitely wasn't what I would describe as "casual table service!"
The perfect setting for a lunch with friends on a sunny day in the garden.Service was cool and efficient once the 12.30 start time had arrived. A sensible menu of 3 starters and 3 main courses all well provisioned and beautifully presented. We have yet to find a more perfect setting with very good food and high class service.A treat we will certainly aim to repeat if the weather allows!
Getting there isn't easy, but once you do, you won't want to leave. We spent three nights at the Auberge in the beautiful Normandy countryside. Had a lovely room upstairs overlooking the garden, breakfast every morning and dinner every night. Although the building is old it has been tastefully renovated and provides all the modern conveniences necessary. Although only 10 minutes from the restaurants of Honfleur we choose to eat in the restaurant every night and weren' disappointed. The menu changes every day so there is always something different to try. The wine list offers a good selection, although some of our choices were not available. Staff were very pleasant and helpful both in the hotel and the restaurant. Car park is large and free of charge. A great location to visit the coastal villages of Normandy, Bayeux, Camembert and surrounding villages.
Delicious food- well worth the 39Euros per person. Small and intimate- best for couples! There's one seating per evening and the dining room is very small so book early. Be aware they only serve wine by the bottle. Dinner is usually 4 courses plus an amuse bouche.
Wonderful place with fresh food. Very reasonable price for a luxury service. I highly recommended. Thank you Trip Advisor for recommending this place.I just want to mention that it is not very easy to reach without GPS cause it is located deep in the forest.
