I believe the restaurant has changed its name, but I discovered a fantastic little cafe with affordable food and drinks. I needed some fuel to keep searching for the Stuka! Where else can you find a refreshing Spitfire Beer? They also had Sambo Nuts! They have all the necessary food groups covered in my opinion. I enjoyed my experience, as did the numerous kids around me. View all feedback.
What Rebecca Hall doesn't like about Wings:
At lunch with my granddaughter, the choice of meals was very limited, plus the sandwiches were also quite expensive and seemed to have what Wartime amounts of fillings must have been. Soft drinks as well as tea and coffee have also been good...over the prices in some other facilities, and visitors with more than a few children can find food at the museum can be quite expensive if also taking into account the parking... When I took my granddaughter out for lunch, we found that the menu was quite limited and the sandwiches were pricey with small portions. The drinks, including soft drinks and tea/coffee, were also overpriced compared to other places. Families with multiple children may find dining at the museum to be expensive, especially when factoring in the cost of parking.
When my meal arrived, I found it to be very unpleasant. Despite being someone who will eat almost anything, the 28-day burger was extremely chewy, the cheese and onion topping was unappetizing, and the minimal greens on the plate did not help. I stopped eating halfway through when I encountered a large piece of cartilage. The portion of chips that came with the meal was small. Overall, for £9, I expected a burger at least comparable to McDonald's, but this was disappointing. I left the meal feeling unsatisfied, especially considering the total bill of £32. Despite this, the rest of the museum trip was enjoyable. The full menu can be found here: [hidden link]
Our visit was for the museum and the exhibition of aeroplanes and war-time memorabilia and, as expected, these were both excellent; we plan to make a return visit very soon. Keen photographs as we are, both of us took many pictures of their exhibits. RAF Hendon's Wings Restaurant provided a brilliant menu of coffee and cakes, followed by a very good lunch, with an excellent service and staff experience. I was hoping for a gluten-free menu and while presently, this is not an available option, apparently they are looking to provide one when possible. I had their Mushroom Stroganoff with rice and vegetables and this was very good, as was their delicious carrot cake!! We can't wait to go again!
From sandwiches to hot meals, a fairly good selection and very tasty. A good salad bar was also available as were paninis. Very clean, as you would expect of an RAF establishment!
