this pub is beautifully decorated both inside and outside, it has a quite traditional feeling both in terms of its aesthetics and eating that is also beautiful and they are so generous with their portions (yay) the handlein are in the position to worry for large group of people, although I found their main surface look better than the surface for larger groups of people, it reminded me of a bit of a personal View all feedback.
What Emma T doesn't like about The Griffin:
Disappointed; having an increasingly lack of consideration for the impact it’s patrons have on the surrounding environment. During the daytime a patron decided to park their large motorbike in the narrow pavement outside which resulted in pedestrians having to walk into the adjacent road. When I highlighted this to the staff and the risk and the risk it caused for disabled people attempting to pass the staff treated... View all feedback.
So proud of this local pub! Mix vib of customer base more mid 20's 50 age range. Love it. Drinks fantastic and atmosphere really chilling and everyone is peaceful and sensible, None of this rowdy nonsense, thanks to the strong bouncers presence! Love the fact its open to families and board games to chill out even on Friday and Saturday evening. I never in my life come across a pub that friendly to allow you to bring in chips if thier kitchen is closed. There is a beer garden that looks like your on holiday! Love love love it! Thank you Griffin
Great bar and we absolutely love the back garden outside area l. Staff are friendly and it's a great little place the only issue we had was 3 doubles inside was £28 but being served in the garden area because they serve 35ml servings instead of 25ml servings it was £40 for 3 doubles which is a tad bit expensive. Would recommend changing outside measures to reflect inside prices for consistency other than that have no problems it's a lovely place especially when the weather is nice and you can bring your 4 legged friends with you which is great
Best beer garden there is. Massive, fairy lights, music. Top stuff. Only downer is that the staff are pretty surly and don't know their stuff. I asked for a wine recommendation, the bar lady told me she didn't drink. Excellent. And then the wine was warm. Sort it out. So, in summary, great pub let down slightly by staff that are far less cool than they think they are.
My friends joined me there for a birthday dinner and we all had a tremendous time. The pub is clean and inviting and easy to feel relaxed in.. The food was good and the staff were intent on making sure we enjoyed our visit. We look forward to our next visit.
My local so expect bias. Nevertheless, a lovely friendly pub with a real fireplace, three big screens across various spaces and one of the biggest gardens in the area. Comes into its own in summer but the wood panelling, two sided bar and back rooflight makes it welcoming when it's chilly outside too. Food is okay, nothing special but great deals in the week mean you can have a cheap night too. Toilets small but always clean and staff always courteous. Long live the Griffin
