Mill Brew - Barnet
Mill Brew
Description
Mill Brew offers a mixed experience for customers. The coffee is decent and the atmosphere is relaxed, with different groups of people enjoying the space. The food is a hit or miss, with some finding the dishes delicious while others found them lacking. The service varies from being friendly and attentive to rude and unwelcoming, leaving some customers hesitant to return. Despite the inconsistencies, Mill Brew seems to have potential as a cozy spot for brunch or lunch in Mill Hill.

Visited Mill and Brew this morning for the first time, hoping for a pleasant breakfast experience. Initially, things started well—our waitress, Maya, was lovely and polite. We asked how many sausages came in a portion, and she told us two, so we ordered one portion to share. However, when our food arrived, it only included one sausage. It was brought over by a different staff member (apparently the manager), and when we questioned the discrepancy, she curtly responded that it’s one sausage per person. We mentioned that Maya had said otherwise, and while the manager admitted it was a mistake, she made no effort to apologise or resolve it kindly—instead offering to take the plate back with a dismissive tone. No gesture of goodwill, just an immediate reminder that we’d be charged if we wanted another. We proceeded to order the extra sausage but were quite put off by her attitude and had to wait whilst our food became cold. When we raised concerns about how we were being spoken to, she became even more rude and dismissive, telling us to “leave it” and walking off. To top it off, the smashed avocado dish was poorly presented—only one slice of sourdough had avocado, while the other was completely dry. They also charge for every condiment, which felt excessive given the already underwhelming experience. Sadly, we won’t be returning. The atmosphere was unwelcoming, and customer service seriously lacking. For a much better experience, Joice Café just down the road is far friendlier and offers better value. Been here plenty of times and each visit we leave with a happy full belly and tastebuds. Food is delicious especially the M&B breakfast. The friendly owner takes his time to have a chat and is very welcoming. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Had the full breakfast, looked and tasted like it was cooked the day before, refrigerated, reheated and served warm to me. Bacon inedible, grilled toms stone cold, All for the bargain price of £15.95 including tea and ‘service charge’. should have realised when I walked in the place was empty.
It's worth giving a try. Good food, cosy atmosphere. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Service: Dine in Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: £10–20
