If you're down about snow crab legs being so expensive these days mix it up and let skippers do the work. Got 1/2 stuffed lobster , 3 clams casino , and 2 nice sized high quality tuna kebobs with a 1/2 a key lime pie for under $40. Fire up the grill for maybe 5 mins and it's ready to serve. Lot of different options that I wanna get next time that never crossed my mind. View all feedback.
What Bruce F doesn't like about Skipper's Seafood Market:
The crab cakes were awful. They were gray, mushy and tasted and smelled like low tide. I'd return them but the order was to go and I was miles away. The fries were ok and the corn was decent even though it's not in season yet. But a seafood place should be able to make crab cakes and Skippers can't. View all feedback.
Can't wait to go today! My first of many trips for the season. Every trip I make, I have consistently fresh delicious seafood. Their young and energetic staff are always polite and patient while I decide what to bring home. Their crab dip is my husband's favorite. Excellent stuffed lobster halves and stuffed crab. I actually buy extra at the end of the season and vacuum seal them to put in the freezer. Great last minute surf and turf if unexpected company drops in. I always get blue crab bodies, crab claw meat and fresh shrimp for a big pot of seafood gumbo Of course I enjoy the key lime pie. Mine is always free because I buy above the threshold. Finally, I can't say enough about their flavorful baked beans! They're delicious. A pleasantly odd surprise to find in a fish market. You can call ahead and they will set your order aside.
I have to say the owner of this company has my utmost respect with the way she represents this establishment, I've been to this spot multiple times before and found it's the hidden gem to hit before reaching the island where prices are doubled for seafood!!! After meeting the owner outside of the business and the kindness she presented me in a difficult situation speaks for the integrity of this business as a whole! I wish I could do ten stars they truly have the fundamentals down of what a community needs, compassion consideration. They do not disappoint shop small businesses!!!
I stopped by yesterday on the way home from the shore, always wanted to give this place a chance. I bought crab cakes, lobster and crab stuffed mushrooms, and pecan crusted grouper. The guys are very friendly who work there, the prices are low, but the three items I bought were abysmal. I don 't expect a ton of crab in a $5 crab cake, but these were mushy and had absolutely no flavor at all except maybe soggy bread crumbs. I 've gotten better quality crab cakes from my grocery store for a buck a piece that still managed to have some flavor. The lobster and crab stuffed mushrooms were mushrooms with breadcrumbs. Not even a remote flavor of fish. And I don 't think they had any salt, either. The grouper (who even knows if it was grouper, I thought grouper had some flavor) was again, not salted, and tasted like nothing. Didn 't taste like fresh fish, didn 't taste like old fish, didn 't taste like pecans. This must be what everything tastes like when losing your sense of taste and smell to COVID. Glad the other reviewers found something good, but stay the heck away from the three things I had. I will not be back.
I love this place!! I always stop there on my way to LBI to pick up 100 little neck clams. They are soooo good and reasonably priced. I also buy the Key Lime Pie which is to die for. I stop there also on my way home and this year picked up some mussels and clams. Fantastic, Clean and not sandy. Not one dud, they all open up. My husband loves the sushi grade tuna from Skippers. Everything we by there is delicious and High quality. I would recommend Skippers for all your seafood needs. They guys that work there are always pleasant and helpful. They will pack your seafood in ice if you need be.
Good prices and availability most of the season. Never too packed at the store. Wish it was open year round but the location and traffic explain why that wouldn't work.
