Capretz offers traditional Italian food but also has other culinary options including Argentinian, American, and Mexican to name a few. I ordered the steak and my wife ordered the goulash, both were amazing. This was one of the best meals we had in Italy. Would recommend to anyone in the area.

We didn't need to book but there was a large table of 20 reserved so maybe best to if you can. Service was good and the staff understood English. We ordered a capretz platter to start, a capretz burger and a Mexican burger washed down with a small beer, water and an ice tea. It was quite warm but there is plenty of shade to cool down in. It's a short walk up a steep hill from the road but worth it.

The food was delicious, especially the polenta with mushrooms, risotto with asparagus and pasta dishes, all amazing. Some of the smaller tables inside have an incredible view over the town. Great location and relaxed atmosphere in a beautiful loggia right in the cetre of Barga.
