What Gonzalo Montemayor dislikes about L'isba:

Nous y sommes allés au regard des commentaires lus...Nous avons été très déçu car le patron est prétentieux et donneur de leçon.... ce qui est particulièrement désagréable quand M. essaie, entre autres choses, de vous expliquer comment éduquer vos enfants....On lui demande simplement de faire le service bien. Du coup, il passe tellement de temps à discuter qu'il en oubliette bon sens (verre d'apéro non débarrassé qua... View all feedback.

The food is very good and at a good price. Excellent service. The dish of the day includes dessert and coffee, and costs only 15 euros. For me it is the best option.

A “must-see” place in Barèges. Good food and surprising but friendly welcome. Perfect after a big hike!!!

Great food and a great maitre’d/waiter. Great place for dinner in a small town! Get the fixed menu. You won’t be disappointed. He does only speak French.

God we had fun here. Our waiter/matre'd and we suspect owner was just a hoot. Visiting in mid September means there's not much of a crowd so we had plenty of time to talk to him in our broken French Canadian French. I asked for the lamb that was on the menu and when he said he had none we went into a discussion of how/when the sheep come off the mountains, we were two weeks too early and if he served lamb if would be from the grocery store. All shared by him with the enthusiasm and mannerisms you come to expect of small town French restauranteurs. We then ordered a shared appetizer that somehow got translated into a shared entree but it was delicious and we laughed so hard about the experience and the conversations we had with him it didn't matter. This experience is exactly why we love to visit France in the off season. We would go back.

Had an amazing dinner with my friend after being greeted by Patrick who calls every customer minou . authentic homemade cuisine by chef Martine. Good choice of menu and deserts, had a good laugh and a really good value for money meal will recommend this place to anyone wanting to have a good time

We really enjoyed the tartiflette which was on the plat de jour. Simple yet well cooked and served with a green salad. Warm and welcoming. Good coffee and creme caramel. Quite central in this quaint village in Bareges in the Pyrenees.

Had lunch and dinner here while on a ski trip. This is a real French restaurant of which it seems there are many fewer than there used to be. Very short menu, classic dishes well-cooked at a reasonable price and helpful owner.

Exceptional moment with the sparkling Patrick at the service. Martine 's cooking is fair and tasty. Alone in the kitchen, she sends out at an impressive rate. The restaurant of the people of Barèges. So don 't worry Minou !!! Go for it.

Great salad delicious white wine now waiting for the main course. If it's a must nearby. Meat bowl perfect. To be the place

A real treat. Welcome I recommend Martine's special garbure better than Fervex to combat flu-like disease, with a small gentian for Milou and we go away again. See you soon Kisses

On July 19, 2022 I was warmly welcomed, but... My choice of a Pyrenees pizza deserved a trip to the emergency room in Lourdes after food poisoning. I had to pay € 107 in taxi fare to return to Barèges. Pizza is expensive!

My friend and I dropped the tourman yesterday under extremely bad conditions (very wet, cold with 100m view) and we decided to take refuge in Bar l'Isba. Despite lunchtime, the restaurant owner was very warm to us and other cyclists and brought towels to dry us and served some warming and delicious onion soup and coffees. We were very grateful and would recommend it!
