I’ve been living in Barcelona for over a year and love showing friends around when they visit. Unfortunately, this was the first time I felt truly uncomfortable... read more I’ve been living in Barcelona for over a year and love showing friends around when they visit. Unfortunately, this was the first time I felt truly uncomfortable in a restaurant here. The staff were rude and dismissive from the moment we sat down. When we asked to split the bill, we were abruptly told to calculate it ourselves. They insisted that no restaurant in Barcelona splits bills, which is simply untrue. I 've dined at many places in the city, and splitting the bill is a normal and common request — especially when asked politely. It was hard to ignore that we were treated this way possibly because we “looked” like tourists — we’re all Asian, and my friends were visiting from London. But I live here and know what to expect. This experience felt not only unprofessional but also discriminatory. There is no excuse for treating any customer with disrespect based on how they look or where they might be from. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and reflects on how they treat their guests.
