Went to this restaurant on a friend's recommendation. Was pleasantly surprised. It was nicely setup. The food served was authentic. We ordered for the banquet. Every curry offered was a treat. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Cafe Saffron:
pics of place looked good, but in actual fact it looked like they were moving out. Ripped seats, peeling wallpaper, joked to my husband that the food better be good, it wasn't ... when we got it. The beef dish we had was full of fat thought we must have gotten the offcuts because we had voucher. We mentioned this to waiter who just said oh, no apologies. Desert was ice cream? looked like diced butter and didn't taste... View all feedback.

I had visited the newly opened Cafe Saffron in South Morang when it originally opened, the food was good, it was always packed with customers & a fun night was always guaranteed. So when I had a chance to purchase a coupon I was quite excited. Well what a disappointment it turned out to be. The band had been replaced by a radio, there was peeling wallpaper in the walls, torn chairs but worst of all was uncleared tables which were cleared as they were needed! The food is obviously frozen & heated up as needed & it would have been a nice touch to let us know what we were eating rather than just plonk the dishes down on the table. Sorry but we won't be back....
Visiting Cafe Saffron for a weekday lunch is an odd experience For starters the restaurant is located in what looks like an industrial estate.
I am dumbfounded at changes to this restaurant. (All bad). We visited for the first time in over a year and were left totally deflated/disappointed by the experience. We walked in and waited for over 5 mins before we were attended to. There is no-one manning the door/entrance and we basically just had to wait for the waitress (the only one) to deliver a table's food before we were spotted.Once seated, again we had to wait way too long before ordering. Entrees arrived but still no drinks ! Had to ask for a 3rd time before they finally arrived. The Chilli Cheese was the one positive for the night. It was very good.Service was practically non-existent for the entire evening. The waitress tried hard but she was the only employee serving tables (she was also softly spoken and a bit difficult to understand). Very occasionally a gentleman would also appear but he always looked "on a mission" and it was difficult to grab his attention. CLEARLY MASSIVELY UNDER-STAFFED.Mains arrived in two shifts.......1st three mains were followed by a ten minute break then the next three mains. This did not go down well with the hungry people at the table. The place looks run-down. It looks like a reception centre with a section split off as a restaurant. Wallpaper peeling off walls, wine glasses didn't match. Just little things that have sent the place down hill since our last visit. On that occasion, service was excellent and food was excellent. Now the food is just good and as I've said, service non-existent.
