The Glacier View Inn - Banff

We visited this restaurant after spending time at the Sky Walk ice rink. We were hungry after our activities and decided to grab a bite at the café on the second floor. The process involved selecting your food first and then paying. The sandwiches were priced at $15 each, but unfortunately, they were old and tasted terrible. The menu also included soup, chili, and poutine. I opted for the poutine, which cost $20. Overall, we were disappointed with the quality of the food and would recommend bringing your own food if you plan on visiting the Sky Walk.

Whenever we visit Jasper, our go-to place to stay is the Glacier View Inn. During our recent visit, we noticed that the hotel has gotten busier during the day compared to a few years ago. However, the early morning at around 7 a.m. is peaceful and allows us to enjoy a relaxing cup of coffee or hot chocolate while admiring the stunning mountain views. We took advantage of the quiet mornings by going for a refreshing jog and walk on the nearby trails before 9 a.m. The rooms were clean and had all the necessary amenities. We definitely plan on returning to Glacier View Inn in the future.

We spent a night at the Glacier View Inn. The name was fitting because the rooms offer a fantastic view of the Athabasca glacier. It was convenient to book the Glacier Adventure Tour and the Glacier Skywalk Tour from this location. The views from the breakfast spot were breathtaking!

We were one night after our glacier/skiwalk adventure. Room was average, nothing special. But the service was great on two counts. First, breakfast was about training questions. It took too long. So we cancelled our order. The manager was very apologetic, offered us alternative choices. We chose free big coffees. Second. We left a wine bottle opener in our room when we were gone. For our surprise and joy it was sent home by Stephan the Front Desk Agent. I never expected the opener to be back. Thanks Stephan and Restaurant Manager.

We stayed one night in order to do a guided hike on the glacier. The hotel is the only option. It is a dated hotel. The room is average at best. The restaurant that serves hotel guests was extremely slow. The food was ok for breakfast, but took an hour to get served and eat. The parking area for the hotel caters to buses, and so you have to lug bags a lengthy walk to enter the hotel. After checking out, they would not let us stay parked in that area, this meant moving the car to a lower parking lot that required walking up a long set of steps to renter the hotel for restrooms, gift shop, etc. It’s too bad this is the only option. The glacier hike, run by a third party not affiliated with the hotel, was awesome.
