We decided to stay overnight and thought The Belmont would be a nice change. The room was clean, although there were some reviews mentioning the small bathroom. It is indeed small, but it is only for showering, not where you actually stay. The bed was comfortable and the evening dinner was really lovely. All of the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere was good, not noisy, and we would be happy to return again.
I recently celebrated my son's 18th birthday at the cellar bar, where we enjoyed some family drinks and chats in the newly renovated bar. The staff was incredibly attentive and even surprised my son with a dessert topped with a candle. It had a lovely family-friendly atmosphere.
This small hotel located on the outskirts of town, just off the A1 highway, is a hidden gem. The restaurant and event rooms upstairs are designed in a period style that matches the main house. The hotel exudes a simple and charming old-fashioned ambience. The food is delicious, offering a mix of modern and traditional dishes at reasonable prices. The staff is friendly and eager to please, particularly Darren at reception who seems knowledgeable and capable of promoting the hotel on social media. It would be wonderful to see the secondary historical house on the property restored for additional guest rooms.
We had the Sunday Carvery today. One course £12, two courses £15 or three courses £18. Starters and desserts are served to your table and you queue up for your main course. The starters were slow to arrive. All food was good. Staff pleasant. The Carvery is served in The Linen Suite, not the main hotel restaurant.
