The food was fantastic, the Schäuferla (roast pork shoulder) was incredibly tender, we really enjoyed it, and were completely happy and satisfied. The Kellerbier (cellar beer) was also absolutely top-notch; I could drink it every day! Thank you for everything!

It's considered the oldest brewery in Bamberg, and i... read more At Klosterbräu, you quickly realize that this isn't a tourist trap, but a place that's been around forever. It's considered the oldest brewery in Bamberg, and it certainly feels that way, without feeling at all stuffy or old-fashioned. I had classic Franconian food, paired with a beer from their own brewery, and that's exactly how it should be done here. No fuss, just honest food and good beer. Both are truly top-notch, and you can tell they know what they're doing. What I particularly liked was the atmosphere. Lots of wood, a bit of a maze of nooks and crannies, not pretentious, but simply cozy. The kind of place where you only intend to pop in for a bit, but then end up staying longer.
