We had been on the road since 7 with only a toasted sandwich for breakfast and were looking for something to tide us over until dinner. Reef and roast advertised home made potato cakes which I thought sounded just the job.But we ended up getting a small dinner to share. It wasn't small! We had roast pork with crackling and and gravy and their scallop potato bake. The serve was generous and the food was delicious, so... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Reef & Roast:
We called in for something to eat as we had previously enjoyed the fresh pork sandwiches. I ordered a pork sandwich, no gravy just salt and pepper. Okay that done I took a seat while my wife ordered hers. My wife told the lady who...More View all feedback.
There are so many options to choose from! The classic hearty dishes are delicious, fresh, and always prepared well. The gravy is especially delicious.
We have visited this restaurant twice while passing through the area, and wow, the steak sandwich is huge and incredibly fresh. The roast pork dinner for one is also amazing, with perfectly cooked pork. We will definitely be returning before we depart.
I had to wait 40 minutes for my takeout order, but I understand that there may have been staff shortages. My review is solely based on the food quality. I paid $17.50 for a steak sandwich with all the fixings, expecting something decent. However, the steak was thinner than the bacon, as shown in the photo, and completely inedible. It had no flavor and after looking at it closely, I decided it was better off being given to my dog rather than eating it myself.
Slimy, rancid blue granadier, dry rubbery whiting(microwaved or defrosted in hot water), handful soggy, unsalted, old chips $6. Only thing edible was potato cakes and crab sticks, all soggy and unsalted. (Zero salt, Im not even a salt lover). I previously rated this fish and chip shop 3 stars, it has been slipping for a while. I only gave 1 star as I had to click one. They are going to make someone sick!! Not going back, now nowhere to purchase fish and chips in Bairnsdale outside a restaurant!
Have been regular here for several years, but haven’t been for a few months. This visit I was Pleasantly surprised, there seems to be new staff and the quality of food is very good. The service was great, very friendly and polite. The family flake deal was very nice. A nice serve of flake, dim sims, potato cakes and chips.
