I visited Kanitaro for the first time in a long while since I was in Hokkaido. When the owner asked me, "Is this your first time here?" I told him that I had been here when they still had crab bento boxes, saying, "It feels like ages ago, but time flies." The nostalgic old building and the taste of their crab rice haven't changed. After seeing the photos here, I went in with some hesitation. When I arrived, I wondered if it was really open, but they were indeed operating. Even without placing an order, a crab rice dish was served automatically. I tried it tentatively and it was incredibly delicious. If you don't mind a slightly messy restaurant, definitely give it a try.

We arrived at 30 and couldn't wait for the 11am opening, so our group of 10, including my wife and I, rushed in. The 12-sided building had five raised tables and a counter seat that seemed to have accommodated many in the past, but was now in a sorry state. The old menu board was hanging in the center of the store, but we were not asked for our order and were served a 500 yen crab rice with pickles and miso soup without being asked. A group of five students who seemed to be making the crab rice did not serve the two people who had come in the middle of it, saying "We can't do it now." When things calmed down, other customers who came later were able to dine normally. The motto displayed near the entrance of the store was "Clean, Quick, Heat and Cool!"
