This wasn't at all what I expected. Altough the reviews on Tripadvisor were good and the pictures suggested a normal restaurant, we ended up in a quiet, canteen like surrounding with no atmosphere. However, the owner, waiter and possibly cook combined in one person was very friendly. Although there was a sort of menu, we had only one choice; couscous, with various meats or chicken on the side. No choice of wine either, only one type of Maroccan rosé.But, surprise surprise, we had a wonderfull evening meal, as if we stayed for dinner at our marrocan friends house. Good food for a very friendly price.
Bagnoles has an excellent choice of eateries to suit all tastes and budgets but it is nice to have a different cuisine in town. I came across this restaurant via a flyer on our car windscreen and looked it up on the Internet where the choice of middle Eastern food on offer encouraged us to give it a try. However when we arrived, very little of the internet menu was available and we were offered the choice of couscous, couscous or couscous! To be fair, it was midweek in midwinter and hopefully, if the restaurant survivesuntil the summer tourist season, then a fuller menu will be restored. You will not be surprised that we chose couscous - and as it happens, the food was excellent. We enjoyed the couscous served with several different sorts of kebab/grilled meat
NSW's South Coast is pretty synonymous with oysters; I've been eating bivalves originating from up and down it at Sydney restaurants for years.
Myself and my partner have just visited the restaurant, as we were searching for something a little different for our night in Bagnoles. We ordered the couscous with seasonal vegetables, chicken and merguez (spiced sausage). We received a truly ginormous portion of food! The cous cous was cooked to perfection, served with harissa and sultanas on the side (customise to your own taste) and the meat and veggies were delicious. To round it off, we were given little glasses of Moroccan mint tea - really help to settle a full stomach! Great service, fab food, fair prices. Would definitely recommend a visit.
