I had people come in after I did, they were seated and had gotten their order placed.Place wasn’t very busy but staffed over looked me, thinking due to my race; Baddeck is known to be racist.

We sat outside for 1.5 hours before our 7:30 reservation and then waited over an hour inside until our food was served. There was no bread or anything to snack on while we waited. The haddock was a bit dry. Overall, we dined in for dinner, and the price was around $20–30 per person.

Was hoping to have good food despite the wait but food was mediocre and burnt. Our waiter Hunter was great, he was always smiling! I watched this rude manager thank every customer Caucasian and French Canadian as they walked out the door. When we were leaving, he purposely pretended to look behind his counter so as not to see us leave. We are Canadians of Asian decent and spoke to him in a good natured manner only to be treated unkindly by this Racidt manager. I heard the people in Vape Breton were nice to their fellow Canadian visitors. This Rude Racist manager just ruined our first evening in Baddeck

I specifically asked our wai... read more I ordered the Tuscan pasta, which originally came with chicken, vegetables, pesto, sun-dried tomato-wine cream sauce, and parmesan. I specifically asked our waiter, Hunter, if the vegan version would still have the sun-dried tomato white wine sauce but without the cream. He confirmed that it would, so I went ahead with the order. When our pasta arrived, I was disappointed to find that there was no sauce at all—just some olive oil and a few vegetables. While I was okay with it being a vegan option, I was shocked when the bill came to $25! For just some loose penne, olive oil, and a few veggies, that seemed outrageous. I questioned Hunter about the price, and he claimed it was correct because we had added more vegetables. But honestly, where were those extra vegetables? There was no way that the added veggies could justify the cost of the original dish, which included chicken, two sauces, and parmesan. Hunter was friendly and had a great smile, but the experience felt utterly misleading. Cape Breton lacks good vegan options, so I recommend bringing your own food if you decide to go there. Overall, it was a disappointing, tasteless, and expensive experience.

The server took... read more 4 of us had our worst experience in a restaurant ever at Lakeside Restaurant (Inverary Inn) in Baddeck N.S. The ambience was cold and clinical. The server took some time to take our order then brought our appetizer and left. She did not return to our table for 40 minutes. Eventually after sitting with our dirty dishes and wondering what happened to our main course we called the manager over. He told us that our orders had not been sent to the kitchen. We had been there for one and a half hours. Still no sign of the waitress! The manager placed our orders. My “lobster Mac and Brie” arrived. It was a large bowl of macaroni in a watery liquid. There were a few shreds of lobster, a few tiny scallops, some pieces of tuna on the top and lots of peas. Very disappointing to say the least.
