The lodge is beautiful with stunning views and offers a great breakfast that accommodates vegans. However, I’m giving it four stars because the quality of our bedroom was not up to par. There were areas with peeling paint and some issues with the bedding. We were disappointed and mentioned this at checkout. While I believe guests are largely paying for the location, communal spaces, and excellent breakfast, the room quality should match the high prices they charge.
I have to share my experience! This is truly one of the best places I have ever stayed in my life! Everything about this place is charming and beautiful! The room was perfect and cozy, and I absolutely loved the heated floors in the bathroom! They have the best staff! As someone who is gluten-free and vegetarian, I know how challenging dining can be, but they went above and beyond to accommodate me. Usually, I end up with a stomachache after eating gluten, but everything I had here was a dream! I couldn't believe that all of it was gluten-free! The bread was the best I've ever had, and I wish I could take it home with me! I can't express how grateful I am for my time at this lodge! But it wasn't just about the food; the staff was incredibly sweet and friendly. They made sure we had everything we needed and wanted! We plan to visit again and again! If I could, I would live here!
We had an exceptional experience at the lodge. From the moment we arrived, they took care of our clothes and made sure we had everything we needed at all times. The staff was particularly friendly and accommodating with every question we had. The food was simply excellent, which can be hard to find in Scotland—the chef, Jerome, is brilliant. The lodge itself is beautiful and charming, with absolutely stunning views. We can't wait to return as soon as possible, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire staff for their courteous service!
A lovely friendly hotel, knowledgeable and aware of cross contamination eg separate toaster, not using the same tongs when giving me my bread roll etc. I had the choice of most of the menu with some minor adaptations and announcing gluten free as they gave me the breakfast or dinner, just giving me that extra reassurance. We stayed 2 nights and I left completely well.
We had the most amazing wedding weekend at Shieldaig Lodge! It really couldn’t have been better. The staff were all exceptionally helpful, kind and attentive and really went above and beyond to make our wedding day weekend perfect. Every meal was outstanding definitely some of the best food we have ever had. The lodge itself is also very beautiful and surrounded by incredible scenery. We hadn’t been to Shieldaig Lodge before our wedding and it definitely exceeded our expectations. We would 100% recommend a visit and are already so excited to go back!
