Im Gutchen - Bad Kreuznach

I had to make a business trip to Germany and spend a few days working with my friends in this region. To thank them for their hospitality, I treated them for a dinner without children. Although the food was very good, the service has kept our experience. No menu in English and no one to explain the dishes. Asked for a wine menu, but only if we order. The service worsened when one of us 3 was served a full 7 minutes before the other 2 and it was lukewarm. To add more misery to this visit, I heard that the owner in German makes another table in the restaurant to the much better treated regulars, which seemed to offer them. Always wait for simple desserts almost left. The cherry on the incredibly terrible service was when I handed my Amex card to the server. She asked if I had money for a $450 Euro meal or her type of ATM card. Of course I didn't have it and she had to “check” when they took credit cards. She returned with the card running and said that they did not like to take credit cards because they have to pay a fee. Yes Madam, we all understand this and work in the parameters of the customer. Of course, the service fee was included a seemingly staple amount and I went out feeling like my friends certainly not the special experience I had hoped for them.

Bad Kreuznach ist einen Umweg wert, um im "Gütchen" zu speisen. Sowohl in der Gaststube als auch im Gartenrestaurant ist es sehr gemütlich, wozu auch der freundliche Empfang und der aufmerksame Service beitragen. Die Qualität und Raffinesse der Speisen ist einfach toll, was natürlich seinen Preis hat. Die Weinkarte listet (zu durchaus vernünftigen Preisen) vor allem lokale Weine auf, wogegen nichts einzuwenden ist. Das Weingebiet Nahe hat sehr gute Weine zu bieten, vor allem natürlich Rieslinge und Weissburgunder. Insgesamt waren wir rundum zufrieden.
