Full disclosure: the only bar I visited in Hallstatt. It was across the plaza from our hotel. I didn't eat here, but I had many drinks. The bar area is small...I call it intimate. We packed a big group here for après though, and it worked out.Tip: drink the Hallstatt beer and schnapps for the authentic experience. There's another room with dining tables. Cafe beside one of the town squares. Small tables and chairs. Adequate place for rest, drink or snack.
We had a few pizzas and the Hallstadt beer. The pizzas were ok nothing great (we ate it all). If you come from the US you expect good pizza so this was really more like frozen pizza it did the job. It was...a little pricey (12.8 euros a pizza about $15) but this place is in the middle of the town square (which is really pretty) in a tourist town. They have a few outside tables with a really nice view. The Hallstatt beer was really awesome. i enjoyed that more than the food.

Called in to this quirky bar as they served Hallstatt beer on fraught. We wanted to try the local brew which was very nice. The two rooms were small and there was someone smoking in each of them. When you are used to a complete smoking ban it feels disgusting having to take in some one else's dirty smoke. They also appeared to serve cake as well.

It is bigger and when our group outgrew the bar area, we pulled up some tables here. The service is good here; you just have to get their attention. That's what I expect from small, local bars. Loved the vibe overall.
