Barbarossa brotkultur - Bad Dürkheim

Right in the center of Bad Durkheim, on the Römerplatz, you can find a branch of the bakery chain Barbarossa Brotkultur. This bakery chain operates many branches between Frankfurt and Kaiserslautern. It is a typical German "Konditorei", where you can get your bakery products at the counter for taking home, or sit down at the back of the shop with coffee and pastry. There is no table service, so ordering is at the counter. As the space at the counter is rather cramped and take-out orders are also processed there, the ordering and obtaining of the coffee and pastry is rather hectic here. However, when the good fight was won, we enjoyed the coffee and cake, because the quality of German pastry is rather predictable. Always tasty and in large portions.

We chose this bakery/café as a meeting place with my friend, as it was the first place in the morning I found and thought if we don't like it there, we can always find something else. After all, we had no reason to change. We have...a standard barbarossa coffee, a very friendly and patient staff and beautiful seating. Unfortunately, it was too early after breakfast so we did not try out any of their great looking cakes. Maybe next time...
