Walked down the hill from where we were staying to find this gem. Service, food and attention to detail rivals some top restaurants. The amuse was amazing. The wild sheep and raviolis with porcini were to die for. Deserts we passed on but the kitchen still provides some perfect treats to finish with. We did the cheese course. An interesting selection. .. wie hier!nach 1,5 Std wurden Hauptspeisen gebracht, ohne Entschuldigung!nun ja.Wir hatten erfahren das der ehemalige Koch von der "Post am Grundlsee" hier nun kochen soll. ?Aber was nun da aufgetischt wurde, unter jeder Kritik!Die Speisekarte war schon ziemlich komisch zusammengestellt.Haben doch noch was gefunden, aber dies wie schon gesagt seit langen das schlechteste Essen! Von der Zusammenstellung der Beilagen sowie vom Geschmack selbst.Der Service eigentlich ok, aber auf unser Frage warum die Hauptspeise 1,5 Stdzu Tisch gebraucht hat.-- " Die Küche hört uns nicht zu"Was immer das heißen soll.Schade!.
While I take note of some less enthusiastic reviews (following the departure of Robert Hocker as chef), I still consider this the best restaurant at Grundlsee. Dishes have remained of high quality, both on the fish and the meat side. Friendly service, good choice of wines by the glass. Sequencing of courses however could benefit from better management.
We stayed at the hotel and had both breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was solid, but Dinner is a great experience. I loved the Mediterranean influences on the food. My wife and I both had different parts of the 3 course menu. We both enjoyed every dish. The soups are great and flavorful. The risotto is not too creamy made just the right way. I had the sirloin stake which was very tender considering sirloin is usually quite chewy. My wife's desert poppyseed gnocchi, was a delightful surprise. I had the chocolate cake for desert. It came with a dark chocolate ice cream and a bar of cream which was good, though the cake itself was a bit dry. It lacked sweetness compared to the other ingredients of the dish. The restaurant has a deck right on the water and in case of good weather it's the best location in town. There's a great view of the castle on the lake. The atmosphere is great though if you sit inside the music that's on repeat might drive you nuts.
Last night we attended a wine tasting together with a very special menu: Great wines!(Potzinger,Southern Styria Great Food!(Team Robert Hocker!!! Great Service!(Team headed by Michaela!!!
Für mich einer der schönsten Plätze, die es auf in Österreich gibt. Das muss man einfach gewesen sein.......... ;-)
Exzellente Küche mitten im Ausseerland. Übersichtliche, feine Karte mit regionalen Speisen. Schöne Atmosphäre, sehr guter Service.
