It was short-term, but with its usual prefer... read more Our friends surprised us with an opportunity for lunch so that we all chose; from personal experiences the central. It was short-term, but with its usual preference approach for its customers Jean Benoit has turned us into what proved to be a fully booked restaurant. It was an excellent meal of freshly roasted fish with chips and salad and my alternative of the best burger I had in a very long time.... perfectly cooked on my order of rare and served in a warm roasted bungalow with salad, houseries and a delicious relish. We were too crowded to take dessert, but we had beer and wine and the whole came to less than 60€...... an absolute bargain of a meal in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The weather was wet, but we still had the beautiful view of the river Aude, who hurried under us, although we were inside. Great service and a powerful and clearly qualified team were just the icing on the cake. We love this restaurant for the good value, good quality and excellent service that we have always given, and it is often our choice for lunch in every season. I had the formula of the day for 13€50 which comprised three courses (as pictured) while my wife just had a 9€ main course. Good quality, good service, acceptable table wine and a fantastic view...from the terrace (also pictured) made for a good lunch with friends. Solid recommendation.

We always enjoy our... read more Our friends and we wanted to sit outside in a beautiful environment and eat good food in a welcoming atmosphere, so we chose Le Bar Central. We always enjoy our time in this restaurant, but it was even better than normal. Our appetizers of salad... of gésiers and salad of roasted goat cheese on whole grain bread were absolutely delicious. The dressing on the salad was amazing and the whole was garnished with roasted pine nuts. Two of us chose the entrecôte that was declared to be cooked for perfection and beautifully seasoned. One had a magret de canard who was a very generous portion and again said to be cooked for perfection. One had Steak Haché, who looked fantastic and was again a big part. All were served with crispy freshly cooked frits and salad. It was all fantastic and none of us had room for dessert, but we saw the most amazing ice cream desserts served and wished we were still hungry. The service was excellent and the team made us very welcome. We were not rushed and despite the fact that other diners were turned away, we never felt we should go. We think it is necessary to make a reservation for lunch in this restaurant as it is an extremely popular place. This is restless as we have four appetizers and four main courses all cooked and presented, four aperitif, wine and beer for 25€ per head in addition to them offer a very attractive performance for our friends dog...so friendly. All in our pa... read more On Saturday for lunch with four friends, pretty busy all, but a table for four were taken, so it was good that we had booked several days earlier. All in our party agreed that the food was excellent and also the service was excellent for....The one thing that was somewhat annoying was the sound of the candied music from the main part of the Resturant/Cafe played. The river that passes directly is a bit loud, but this is to be expected, but with the music that was loud at times it was difficult to hear other people speaking in our party. If someone used hearing aids, it would have been impossible to hear. Well done to staff and management to make our lunch a pleasant experience, we will all be back. Thanks u from the International Dinners Club, hope u have a good year.

We went with friends twice in one week firstly with visitors from the UK and secondly with friends who have a holiday home here and we had a fantastic lunch on... read more We went with friends twice in one week firstly with visitors from the UK and secondly with friends who have a holiday home here and we had a fantastic lunch on both occasions. The setting is beautiful as regardless of the weather you can see...the fabulous scenery and watch the Aude pass by. On our first visit we chose the goats cheese salad which Jean Benoit warned us was large so he offered to make us smaller portions which we thought very considerate. We followed this with hamburgers and an omelette which were all delicious. Everything came with a large portion of their excellent house fries and a lovely fresh and tastily dressed salad. We chose a crisp white wine that was very reasonable in price. On our second visit there were new items on the formula menu so we chose the lovely veloute de mais and a duo of steak hache parmentier and a roasted chicken leg. Although this was a surprising combination it was beautifully cooked and seasoned and we all loved it. We chose the same white wine as on our first visit as it was very good. On both occasions we were all too full to choose a dessert but were very satisfied with the quality and value of all we had ordered. There is a good choice of wines available at very reasonable prices and in our opinion the welcome and service are second to none. Thank you JB and your fabulous team.
