Recommend eating out the back au terrace, sha... read more After a long hot day at the festival this really was a treat. Fabulous pizza with an excellent choice on the menu. Recommend eating out the back au terrace, shady and cool in the early evening. Staff really pleasant - attentive but not overly so. Good choice from the wine menu and not expensive. Pitcher of house rose went down well. Thoroughly recommend.

The food is good (although not great) here but we could just not get past the rudeness of the staff - far beyond anything acceptable, even in France where curt... read more The food is good (although not great) here but we could just not get past the rudeness of the staff - far beyond anything acceptable, even in France where curt service is legendary. I'm talking about servers physically shoving customers waiting to pay at the narrow cash area in order to get by ("excuse me" would work better), ignoring tables trying to catch their attention, unwillingness to answer questions about the menu, and uncomfortable public bickering between employees in the middle of the restaurant. Seems like this is just the negative culture at this place - which kind of gave me indigestion. There are several other nice places nearby to choose from where staff have some professional composure.

My... read more We were SO in the mood for pasta, and the restaurants near us were all booked up. We called Le Synopsis at 7:40 and were able to make a reservation for 8:00. My friend ordered the linguine with pesto, and I got the penne aux legumes du Sud. The pasta was perfect, and there was just the right amount; so we were satisfied but not stuffed. The pesto was delicate, and very flavorful. My dish had delicious oven roasted eggplant and peppers in it. We finished with pistachio ice cream (and whipped cream) for me, and a café gourmand for my friend: an espresso with four miniature desserts. Our server was delightful, using English when our French didn't quite make it. We had a lovely evening out.

We... read more We were told about Synopsis while on the Avignon Gourmet Food Tour (which was great) and it ended up being an even better experience than we had anticipated. We arrived right at their opening, but were sat and attended to. The server checked in with...us to see if we had any questions on the menu or needed anything translated. We wanted to try a local Rose and he immediately had a recommendation that turned out to be fabulous. He provided detail on several menu items and helped us in selecting items based on what we were looking for. The food was incredible! We had the Salad of Provence, Buffalo Margarita Pizza, Tiramisu, Limoncello. All were exceptional! It was the type of dining experience that you happily talk about the next day and remember how wonderful it was.

We had seen the wood-fired many times and thought it was a good place to eat. in our last night in avignon we decided to try it. first we just wanted to pick up... read more We had seen the wood-fired many times and thought it was a good place to eat. in our last night in avignon we decided to try it. first we just wanted to pick up and take back to the apartment and then decided to stay in the restaurant and eat. the pizza was just as we hoped. the crust was perfectly crunchy and the ingredients were fresh. they had a great choice of crying on the glass. it was a very nice turnkey meal to enjoy in avignon!
