What User doesn't like about Scottish Steakhouse At Macdonald Spey Valley Resort:
Got there and chefs hadn’t turned up. No voicemail or message from restaurant. Really disappointed. Organised another meal for us at other hotel 10 mins drive away which isn’t helpful when you want to have a drink and are staying beside the steakhouse. View all feedback.
Despite having only two steak options on the menu, we were pleasantly surprised by the amazing flavor, size, and quality of the steaks. They were cooked perfectly and the accompanying mushrooms, tomatoes, fries, and sauces were also great. All five of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals and our plates were left empty. While the prices were not cheap, the quality of the food made it worth it. We definitely plan on returning.
The staff at the restaurant were very friendly, but unfortunately, the place was nearly empty. We ordered three medium rare steaks, but two of them were completely overcooked.
We had a reservation for 5:30pm at the restaurant. When we arrived, there was no one to greet us or show us to our table. After waiting about 10 minutes, we were finally seated. We were the only ones in the restaurant at the time. It took about an hour for our meals to arrive. My daughter ordered a steak, but they forgot to bring her sauce and had to go get it. The server was very pleasant. After finishing our dinner, we ordered ice cream, but waited another 40 minutes for it to arrive. Our dinner dishes were still on the table when we decided to cancel the ice cream and ask for the bill. The restaurant apologized and did not charge us for our daughter's meal. They were clearly understaffed. The sirloin steak and rib eye steak were alright, and the burger and fish were decent for the price. Overall, it was a bit disappointing experience.
Nice looking restaurant and a lovely bubbly girl behind the bar who greeted us. First course showed fairly quick and was quite nice and then quite a long wait until the second, we had both ordered rib eye but when it turned up it looked very insipid and had not been seared at all and just didn't look appetising. Apparently the mushrooms had been dropped on the floor so we didn't get any replacements but got a side salad that had obviously been hanging around as it had turned quite mushy. The sweet which was apple crumble was at best ok but the custard was so thick you could of nailed it to the wall. I felt a bit sorry for front of house who were great but the kitchen needs to do better.
Our waiter was very nice. But I had asked for onion rings with my steak and was told you don’t do onion rings then the table next to us ordered them and they got them. Never heard of steak without onion rings. Also the menu was very small which was fine, it had a good selection but half of the items were missing. The food we did get was excellent. No atmosphere in the restaurant at all.
