Bistro Boulevarde - AVALON BEACH

You have to book for this local favourite and they have two seatings which is why this restaurant has lasted the distance in a seasonal place like Avalon Beach. We went on a cold wintery Saturday night and it was full at 6pm. The food was sensational - we had the prawn bisque special, and zucchini flowers for starters ; barramundi and duck confit for mains. I don't know why they give you a knife for the duck; it falls off the bone in a tender and juicy forkful. The wine list is predominately French so it can be tricky to find something you will like, but the friendly and efficient waitress was happy to advise. The food is quite rich and unfortunately we weren't able to fit a dessert even though every one of them was tempting. We saw the tasting plate come out and it looked terrific. Next time, I am skipping the starter and leaving space! We were out quite quickly, by our choice, but the restaurant was already filling for the second seating. If there was any criticism it would be that it does feel a little crowded and noisey- but then again if they had less tables we may not have gotten a reservation and would have missed out completely. I am a bit anti-crowds, so many people would probably like the lively atmosphere. There are several streetside tables with gas heaters if you prefer a quieter meal, one of which might have my name on it when the weather warms up a bit ;)

This is a great restaurant. Great service, wonderful ambiance, delicious food. Steak frites and mixed dessert were outstanding.

Great French food, cosy atmosphere and helpful friendly service. The specials are well worth trying, but all on the menu is worth the effort. I enjoy ordering a glass of champagne in the late afternoon and having it at the tables out the front with some oysters. Perfect.

If you want fabulous food and great service you've come to the right place!2 Diners had the steak and frites and another had Moules Mariniere.The steak melted in your mouth and chips nice and crispy, delicious sauce!The Moules delicious also.The trio of sweets was outstanding.A miniature pot of creme caramel, chocolate mousse and small lemon tart!Comes with a coffee as well!Best desserts we've ever had!Not a cheap night out but worth every penny for the quality, service and atmosphere

Really disappointed with the food and service. The rabbit was over cooked and the sauce watery, needed seasoning. The crepe Suzette again the sauce was not thick and full of substance. Asked for the bill, no one ever asked how our meal was - I wrote on the bill NOT GREAT. Waitress took payment looked at the bill and saw but never even ask why or how was it not good. Attitude plus!! Won't return unfortunately!
