We've been here for brekky a couple of times now and it's always pretty good. The bread is freshly made and tastes awesome. I regularly order a dish with Main St Bacon which is great for the taste buds on a Sunday morning. I love the decor of the whole place and no doubt will become a regular brekky joint View all feedback.

One unique touch at the hotel is the electric shoe polishing machine located at the entrance between Deery's restaurant and the Main Street Bar and Eatery, available for patrons to use at no cost. This small detail reflects the long-standing tradition of quality at the Story Bridge Hotel, a standard upheld in Brisbane, Queensland, dating back to the 1860s when the first premier, Robert Herbert, and his Oxford friend, John Bramston, combined parts of their last names to create the term "Herston," naming Herbert's farmhouse and property. Unfortunately, the local council seems more focused on building walkways next to luxury car dealerships and investing in their public relations than addressing the persistent flooding issues in Herston—something that's acceptable to mention on Zomato, but not on the more cautious Tripadvisor, which discourages social and political commentary. The Story Bridge Hotel is popular among locals and often hosts exclusive mud crab luncheons by invitation. It also embraces more lighthearted Australian traditions, like the annual cockroach race held on Australia Day, which has become a significant event in Brisbane—celebrating its 38th year in 2019. Sunday afternoons are lively, featuring live bands playing classic rock, allowing younger patrons to mingle in one bar while older guests chat in another. If you find yourself at the Main Street Bar and Eatery early, it’s worth noting that they're open by 6:30 am and provide various newspapers for guests to read, including the Sydney Morning Herald and the Australian Financial Review. The coffee is excellent and reasonably priced at $3.50, and the freshly made muffins are a must-try. Overall, a fantastic spot to visit!

We're beginning to make this restaurant our go-to brunch spot for the weekends. The service is wonderful, and the food is delicious. There are plenty of options on the menu. I highly recommend the sweet corn fritters... Mmm mmm!

The food was excellent, the prices were quite reasonable, and the atmosphere was cozy. What we appreciated most was the incredibly friendly and attentive service from the staff. We visited twice in one week, and each time we left as very satisfied customers.

Nice pizza! The menu was quite limited as there weren't many meat free options. I decided on the king prawn wrap as it was wrapped in lettuce leaves and sounded light and healthy. My eating partners both chose pizza. Theirs arrived first and looked pretty good. Then, a third pizza arrived a prawn pizza. Somehow they got my order wrong but the waitress took off so fast I didn't have a chance to say anything. I decided to keep the pizza as it looked good and I didn't want to wait all over again. The pizza also had fresh chilli and a sprinkling of rocket on top. I really enjoyed it. Service was very average. We had to hunt for someone to ask for napkins. No cutlery was offered. A bit more care from the staff would create a much better atmosphere.
