Food was good. Not exceptional but I think exactly what you look for at an ice house. The onion rings were very good. Good hamburgers and fried chicken. Same with the atmosphere. Comfortable and casual. Plenty of seats for large and small parties. Service was excellent. Friendly and welcoming.Food: 4/5 View all feedback.
What Jose P doesn't like about Waterloo Ice House:
Burger was good, pancake was just ok. Really BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! The waitress was running one section by herself and could not keep up. Various tables got up to get silverware and napkins. No refills! The men's bathroom was disgusting! There was so much peeeeee everywhere! Will not return! View all feedback.
Waiter was friendly but took a while to get everything we asked for. Was too busy showing co worker something on his phone. But other than that it was fine. It was hot in the restaurant so it was a little uncomfortable. Food was good.Food: 4/5
Dined during lunch on Thursday...I can 't believe I 've never eaten here! Passed by it probably a thousand times, but just never stopped in. Don 't make the same mistake as me!!! The food here is top-notch. I had the umami turkey burger this was the best dang turkey burger I 've ever had!! The sweet potato waffle fries were so addictive and tasted as if they were fried in a brand new fryer batch of oil. You know how when you go to a new joint and get something fried and it 's like WHOA! Never knew fried could taste fresh ?? It was like that. The staff was so, so friendly, they were just incredible. I feel like I 've been totally missing out. Can 't wait to return!!!
My to-go order was a burger and it was supposed to come with bacon it was missing bacon. Also the fries were cold and there were no napkins in my ToGo order. Although there are parking spot labeled curbside, there is actually no curbside as the phone was not answered; the parking spots should, more accurately, be called ToGo parking spots rather than curbside parking spots. But the dining room was orderly and clean and my order was ready at the time it said it would be ready.
That's 5 stars to make up for the fool that misspelled Waterloo.
I was a huge fan this location when I worked nearby. Stopped in today after a couple years not being in and was shocked, dismayed, and literally sick to see what it has become. The service was a total mess, when our food was delivered I asked for a refill on my tea and 30 minutes later finally had to go get it myself. One employee was talking to and then later about her husband the whole time at the bar, the other two were shooting the breeze with a friend NONE were taking care of the customers. One table in the corner was waiting for their check literally the entire time we were there and finally someone had to go up and loudly ask for it. I finally got up and went and got my own napkins and drink only to have the servers act put out that I reached between them to get the napkins, and even more annoyed when told them not to let me interrupt their conversation, and grabbed my own drink on the way back to my seat. One of hte servers waived at a customer who walked in with two full size, non-service dogs brought through the front door and through the eating area to a back room. I 'm a dog lover and all but you don 't walk them through the restaurant and if they were service dogs they would have been wearing the service animal vests. My wife and I ordered fried pickles and two burgers (Mushroom Swiss and Peppercorn Blue Cheese) with fries. The fried pickles has other friend items than pickles mixed in, not sure what they were. The burgers were disgusting, no flavor (obviously frozen and possibly freezer burned patties), greasy and insanely salty to the point the salt burned my wife 's mouth. The fries were cold and had no salt or flavor. So cold in fact that we tried adding salt and it wouldn 't stick. After I finished choking down what I could of my burger so I could go to work, the server finally came by to see if we needed to go containers since we hadn 't eaten much of our food. I asked if I could get a refill since I had to go get my own last time and he said they were having communication issues with the servers. My wife told him point blank the food was nasty and we didn 't need a to go. He said alright then and gave me a check. $49.95 for two inedible burgers, cold inedible fries, and some okay fried pickles with teas. I couldn 't even try to finish my fries because as soon as I paid the tab the server grabbed my plate and walked off. No offer to get the manager, no hey sorry the food sucked, nothing just walked off.................
