This was my first time at Thundercloud Subs, it's tucked away in a little corner and I only found it because google let me know They were there.I have never bee... read more This was my first time at Thundercloud Subs, it's tucked away in a little corner and I only found it because google let me know They were there.I have never been so when I walked in I was suprised to find as a basic menu item a sandwich with all my preferences- the greenbelt.Rebecca was so nice she walked me through everything.One employee was in the back getting coached by the manager. He seems a little on the grumpy side I'm sure he could be nicer but all his feedback seemed reasonable and meant to help the customer so you can't be too hard on him.On my drink it says they've been making subs since 1975 and it shows. I was expecting little bits of dryness on the sandwich like I get at Jimmy John's some times, but it was perfect. The Jalepeno chips even seemed a little fresher. No joke this was mind blowing for such a small unremarkable spot. I will say this. Marketing isn't everything. They may not be as fast but they take their time to do a great job.All in all this place walks the walk.

I really wanted to take a picture of one of the guys working behind the counter, wearing basketball shorts sagging on one side to the point where you could see his underwear and skin and visibly pulling them up with gloves while making sandwiches. I don’t think I will ever stop at this location ever again.

However, today was differ... read more I've been getting tuna subs from this ThunderCloud Subs location for many years—decades, in fact. Usually, the sandwiches are perfect. However, today was different! Please don’t slather on excessive mayo without asking first. I didn't request mayo, yet it was everywhere, soaking the lettuce and bread into a mushy mess! I still love this place, but your staff could use some additional training!

Two people before me went fast! I'm coming to the window and the guy goes away and starts making sandwiches! So I come back to the line behind the pair that came behind me and wait and another 5 minutes to order my sandwich. I took a bag of chips and some napkins that I apparently aggressively on the counter after the sandwich preparation. I was in the restaurant business since I was 18 now 65 you don't cost a customer! This old man has to find a job where there is no pressure because he can't knock it out!! Either that or only Sunday Monday and Tuesday evenings of the week in a slow business. You can also consider getting an app on the game. Google.com, as if you're looking for Doncloud documents, will it attract your competition, hello?

Keep in mind that while the sandwiches at this location are fantastic, there is a staff member here that is not. Other than him, you'll love your meal and experience.

They offer a good sel... read more I've been a Thundercloud fan for decades. Lots of other sandwich shops have come and some have gone. But Thundercloud keeps on keeping on. They offer a good selection of fresh meats, veggies and custom made sandwiches that are delicious and fairly priced. The folks that work there, regardless of which store you go to are always interesting and a little quirky at times. But they all love their job and know how to create a tasty sub sandwich. The New York Italian with double meat is one of my faves. Add double the meat to just about any sub and it's still way cheaper than regular sandwiches at other franchise sandwich shops.

No frills casual lunch (or dinner) stop for high quality and fresh ingredients. They will make your sandwich to order and do so quickly. It's just an Austin institution and has been successful by sticking to the same model year after year great sandwiches at a great price. Plus, there is always good music on while you wait or while you eat. It ain't the Four Seasons, so don't go in there with your fancy pants attitude and you'll be fine. I'll feely admit to being a little bit of a homer for Austin businesses but these sandwiches are just better than the national chain competition by a lot. Austin's original and one of a kind!
