Hungry J's
3.6 / 5 (11 reviews)

Description

Hungry J's, a food truck experience popular in Austin, presents a blend of opinions. While some patrons rave about the welcoming service and delicious food during events, others lament mediocre pizza quality and disappointing customer service. Many noted the thin-crust pizzas were overcooked, resembling frozen options, and delays plagued orders. However, positive experiences highlight friendly staff and accommodating service, especially during private events. The contrast between the food truck's appeal and inconsistent food quality leaves a mixed impression. Overall, Hungry J's shows promise but may need to refine its offerings and service to satisfy all customers.

The food at this restaurant was not worth the high price. The thin crust and toppings were mediocre, but the pizza was overcooked and hard, resembling a frozen pizza. After reconsidering, I have to say that my experience was bad. It seems like they may be serving frozen pizzas with just a few added toppings. I hope they can improve in the future, but I have my doubts based on how quickly I received my $25 pizza. Sorry, but I cannot recommend this place.

Terrible pizza. I ordered three different kinds and all of them were dry, cold, and tasted the same. Even frozen Red Baron pizzas are better than this. There was no sauce on the pasta, the ingredients were cold, and overall it was just awful. To top it off, they were also 30 minutes late delivering the order. If I could give zero stars, I would.

We hired the hungry J's food truck for a bachelorette party and J was incredible. He prepared all the food on the spot for us and even threw in an extra pizza! He was friendly, accommodating, and the food was fantastic. I would highly recommend this food truck to anyone hosting an event or just passing through Austin. Thank you, J!

Awesome pizza. The chicken bacon ranch was delicious. Pretty quick for handmade pizza.

The pizza was good but no pizza tastes good enough to make up for how crummy the customer service was. We waited for an hour to get our entire order after pre-ordering. We got our pizza about 20 minutes into waiting but they forgot our breadsticks (which look and taste horrible) for about 40 minutes. We asked for marinara sauce but were given a weird butter mashed potato sauce instead. We kept having to ask for our order again, they forgot who we were four times... They had no system for writing down orders; they were solely doing it based off of memory. The staff was consistently on their phones. They were also in and out of the food truck to feed their dogs. One was not wearing a mask, one only wore a mask over their mouth, and the other staff member actually wore a mask correctly. They offered us free drinks to make up for the fact that we waited so long. They were out of most drinks though. A couple next to us had been waiting for two hours to receive one cheese pizza. We got our pizza before them.
