The wait was absolutely worth it! The ingredients were exceptional, the service was outstanding, and the menu was genuinely one-of-a-kind. I've been reminiscing about the bun and the wagyu ever since my visit. I can't wait to return!

I stopped by for a quick weekday dinner and was not disappointed! We tried the waffles with blueberry compote on the side, as well as mushroom toast and avocado toast. All the dishes were fresh and perfectly balanced. Delicious!

We had a fantastic brunch! My husband and son ordered the chicken and waffles, while I opted for a breakfast featuring carnitas. The menu was compact but offered some intriguing options. Everything was absolutely delicious!

I enjoyed brunch on a bustling Saturday, and since I was dining solo, I was able to sit at the bar immediately. The latte was quite good, and the coconut chia pudding was also enjoyable. However, the star of the meal was the Pastrami Benny—it exceeded my expectations! You might not believe it, but there's some impressive original cooking happening here. Definitely worth a visit! On a side note, I always forget to take photos before I dive into my food. Not very forward-thinking, I guess?

It wasn't worth it. We ordered: **** Mary: it was warm, it was not shaken kek baskets: the biscuits were bite size and dry chilaquiles: the salsa was too tasty and I love sours, but it was a lot of Al Pastor hash: it had only two pieces of potatoes, it was just ok

**Restaurant Review: A Mixed Bag Experience** This restaurant offers a blend of delicious dishes and disappointing service. While many patrons enjoyed standout items like the Pastrami Benny and chia seed pudding, issues arose with unexpected surcharges and rushed dining experiences, particularly for larger tables. Some diners expressed discomfort due to hovering staff and lack of clear communication about pricing and service. Although the ambiance and swift service were highlighted positively, shortcomings in certain dishes left a sour taste. Overall, while the menu showcases potential, families and groups may find their dining experience compromised. Proceed with caution if you’re looking for a relaxed meal.

There was no indication of a 22% surcharge for parties of five or more, yet that’s exactly what we encountered, leading to a shocking breakfast bill of $145! For breakfast! Additionally, a third staff member approached us with the bill and stood over my son-in-law as he reviewed it, making the experience even more uncomfortable. The previous night, we had the same group for dinner, including alcoholic beverages, and our bill was less. After reflecting on this significant markup, we attempted to reach out to the restaurant, but none of the listed phone numbers were correct or answered. If you’re searching for a delicious breakfast spot in Austin, I cannot recommend this restaurant. And if you happen to have children or are in a group of more than four, I would advise avoiding it entirely. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.

A hidden gem in the heart of downtown Austin, TX, Forthright Cafe exceeded all my expectations! The atmosphere was fantastic, with great music playing while I enjoyed my breakfast. The food was absolutely delicious—simply delightful! However, what truly made my experience memorable was the outstanding service provided by Aaron. He was attentive and incredibly friendly! I would definitely give this place a solid 5-star rating!

The restaurant was nice, offered quick service, and had reasonable prices. They had a fantastic selection, including several vegetarian choices, and I would have appreciated a meat substitute for some dishes. I tried the avocado toast, which was great, but the chia seed pudding stole the show—I'd have been perfectly satisfied just with that. It was delicious and came in a generous portion.

The service was also outstanding. If you’re looking for a relaxed brunch spot that caters to food lovers, look no further. Honestly, Forthright is a definite winner!

Great brunch here. My partner had the brunch burrito, that might have been a touch on the small side, but was very good. I had the biscuits and gravy with eggs, which was plenty large and very satisfying. Great peppery taste to the gravy. Iced chai latte was super tasty and much appreciated for hot outside dining. I would have liked if ice was served with the water to help cool down, but did not request it. We were looking forward to the home made poptart but they had already run out by the time we ordered.

The experience didn't justify the cost. We ordered a Bloody Mary, which was served warm and hadn't been shaken properly. The basket of biscuits offered bite-sized pieces that were quite dry. The chilaquiles had a salsa that was overly tangy; I enjoy sour flavors, but this was excessive. The al pastor hash contained only two pieces of potato and was just mediocre.

I had the pastrami hash and absolutely loved it. The crispy potatoes paired with the pastrami were just perfect. The cocktails were a bit on the pricey side at $15 for a larger mimosa, but I felt they were worth it. My sister ordered the michelada, and it was honestly the best one I've ever had, no contest.

I enjoyed brunch on a lively Saturday, and since I was dining solo, I quickly found a seat at the bar. The latte was delightful, and the coconut chia pudding was quite tasty as well. However, the highlight for me was the Pastrami Benny—it really surpassed my expectations! You might be surprised, but this is some genuinely unique cooking. It's definitely worth a visit. On a side note, I always forget to take pictures before I start eating, so any shortcomings in my food photos aren’t Forthright's fault!

We enjoyed a wonderful brunch at Forthright Cafe! My husband and son chose the chicken and waffles, and I went with the breakfast scramble featuring carnitas. The menu was brief but offered some tempting choices. Everything we had was incredibly tasty!
