The chicken and waffles were excellent! They also have a great range of hot sauces available. I appreciated the addition of some hot honey on the side; it really enhanced the dish. However, I encountered an issue with parking validation, as it indicated that the balance hadn't been paid, so be prepared to pay for parking. View all feedback.
What Sveinlaug Dugfús doesn't like about Colleen's Kitchen:
“There is a 20% SERVICE FEE for dining at Colleen’s” This should be noted on the reservation by Colleen’s and Open Table. It’s in fine print at your table -I missed it— highlighted on your bill and followed by an awkward conversation with waitstaff indicating that any “gratuity” left above the “service fee” would go directly to her. Excellent Southern Comfort Food. Slightly upscaled. Nice ambiance. (THANKFULLY not as loud as many Austin restaurants.)I am definitely returning to try more dishes.
Fantastic dining experience at Colleen's kitchen! We made a reservation online and were promptly sat down after arrival. The waitress (I think her name was Addie) offered quick and patient service to me and my family. The food was warm, delicious and served in a very timely manner! The fried chicken biscuit was to die for. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting warm and not too loud. I've recently moved to the area and I plan on making this a regular spot!Parking: They validate parking here for 3 hours
Food and service were both great. The only issue I had was that there aren't any shades on the windows and where I was sitting was getting pelted by the sun. I was sweating the whole time, which makes for a pretty unpleasant dining experience. Thankfully, my back was to the windows, however, my friends were facing them and the sun was in their eyes for the majority of our meal. If you are a restaurant in Texas, you need shades on the windows.
The food was good, but the 20% service charge on top of the menu prices is insane. Definitely not worth it.
Every single item—from the deviled eggs to pan roasted chicken and the Mac and cheese!!—was absolutely delicious. It’s food for the soul. The ambiance of the place is perfect for any occasion. Will definitely go back.
