I had a delightful lunch of Tortilla Soup on the tree-shaded deck while waiting for my daughter at a nearby surgical facility. I also treated myself to some gelato, which I believe is the best in Austin—Coffee Crunch is my favorite flavor. The only downside was that a grackle dropped a little gift on my head while I sat in the sun enjoying the pleasant day, but it was a minor inconvenience for such consistently excel... What joe nich doesn't like about Central Market:
I typically have positive experiences at Central Market and their café, but today was a different story. I decided to buy a prepared meal and went for the meatloaf. I picked one up and it felt light, so I tried another one, which felt heavier. To confirm my suspicions, I checked the weights. It turns out that neither meal was the correct weight. One weighed 0.94 pounds, while the other was 1.105 pounds. They are supp... View all feedback.
Love everything about Central Market! The best produce, meat, seafood, cheese, gelato, cafe, bakery, and clerks!
I attended a cooking class at Central Market on North Lamar last night with a friend for her birthday. Well, the class--Paella Party--taught by Cindy Haenel was fabulous. Cindy is such a good instructor. She is thorough, informative and had great tips, which I know will make my paella better. The dishes we prepared during this fun hands on class were delicious. But I have to say, the flan prepared by one of the volunteers (not during the class) was sublime. A delicious and satisfying way to top off an already fantastic class.
Playground for foodies! Lots to see and do and always a sample or two. Staff and customers are most friendly and helpful. Either make it from scratch or pick-up to go and every level in between. We bought two blocks of Extra Sharp Cheddar and were surprised when the counter person in the cheese section offered to cut it up any way I wished, I eagerly took her up on her offer, and now can snag a block of protein to keep me going. Produce is always the best and freshest and there is always something new to try. The original store in central Austin is a bit cramped and maneuvering around is a challenge, but the atmosphere positive, and every trip there is an adventure. The cafe is kick-ass, too!
I've had lunch a few times now. I've had the ....Mediterranean chicken wrap.....and the Cobb salad. Both are excellent! Can be fast or sort of slow, depending on the time you get there. But the food is excellent! I really mean it. I don't care so much of local.... The food is very good. The people are very nice.
Central Market is a great place for us a family to hang out... we play at the playground, dance to live good vibes music, grab some organic fresh produce and some local kombucha and call it a day. Walking through Central Park around the pond is another perk! 5 stars!
