I?ve been here for both brunch and dinner, and both are good. The menu is simple, but done well. Sit on the patio on a a nice day, but the inside is also a good vibe. View all feedback.
Love the ambience of this place. Historical and relaxed. It is in regular rotation for us to brunch. They used to have an amazing burger (see picture of another reviewer below), but I ate here today and they seemed to have changed it. The bungalow is much larger than the Patty, and the meat is very affordable. Bring the double fat bag back!!
Unique place, lively cocktails and probably the best food I had in Austin last week. Anything else? Very recommended!
Brunch was excellent. I had breakfast Sammie and my partner had the 2 egg breakfast plate. Both were perfectly cooked. Bacon was sharp. The potatoes were beautiful and crispy outside and creamy inside. My partner liked the apple butter especially. Service was prompt. Why only 4 stars? When we asked for a seat, we were told it was full. Although there were very few people on the terrace at the time, we said it was all reserved? It never came near even half full. When we were gone, there were 22 empty seats on the terrace. No way to treat customers.
This review applies only to the restaurant. Super sweet room and the food was decent. The terrace is dog friendly. My biggest farewell was our waiter. He left something out of my friend's order and didn't offer to correct it. My friend had to ask twice if she was not charged for it. He never refilled our drinks. We ask two more servers to refill. One forgot and the second finally took our waiter and even then he forgot one of the drinks. Later he tried to serve us drinks that were intended for the table next to us. We also noticed that the table was sitting next to us a little after us and served before us her food. You had another waiter than us. If you read some of the reviews, there are some who come to the attention of their waiting staff. I don't know if there's a single server or if there are multiple servers with problems. In any case, management should examine the review and discussion with the staff. More and more people decide to dinate and service (and quality of food, but this is not the case here) can make or break a restaurant. I wouldn't usually take two stars, but the restaurant wasn't busy. Honestly, the guy looked extremely tired and maybe I shouldn't mistake the restaurant for it. However, we asked two other waiting staff for help, and they just put it back on our waiter instead of helping to wipe out empty tables that were not even ready for cartridges, as it was not busy. I would definitely try it here with the hope that the service is a little better next time. We had the crispy oyster mushrooms, very good. Cashew queso, that was okay. It is more like an extra creamy onion dip with a queso consistency. So call it queso is a little misleading, but it was still decent. I ordered the pancakes. They were delicious. Just be aware that no syrup is served with pancakes or maybe my waiter has forgotten it, but I have nothing to do with it, because I don't care about syrup so much and they were still delicious without it. My friend had the ice-ammy and she said it was decent but difficult to eat in the sandwich form. The chili-hutch hemberries had no hatch to them, but they were decent. They were only essentially at home Pommes not slipping chili home fries. Again, I'm not sure if something has been omitted or if that's how they are actually prepared. Overall, I really wanted to enjoy this meal, but service was really missing.
We're guests at the Carpenter Hotel and came here primarily because of the great atmosphere and the convenience. The menu didn't look especially compelling to either of the two of us, but it ended up being one of the best meals we had in our 2-week Texas vacation. The Chicken Schnitzel is a bit comical in it's large portion, but my s.o. said it was perfection with an incredible sauce. The (absent of any grain) Grain Bowl was superbly flavorful and balanced. I'd recommend it to everyone. The pecans and olive appetizers are great. I hope they keep the Blood Orange Bellini (or anything similar) on the drink menu for less adventurous drinkers like myself. Nothing else on the cocktail menu sounded appetizing to us, but this is definitely a place for enjoying cocktails or other alcoholic beverage. Great service. Stylish but comfortable atmosphere. Great for everyone, certainly not just hotel guests.
