Reviews - Bartlett's Restaurant
Reviews summary
In a bustling Austin dining scene, one restaurant stands out for its intriguing offerings but falls short in execution. The grilled artichokes and chimichurri steak sandwich receive high praise for their flavor and preparation. However, many dishes, such as the prime rib and burger, disappoint with lackluster seasoning, evoking a nostalgic yet unsatisfactory '90s diner experience. Service woes plague the experience, with several patrons reporting issues, including misplaced credit cards and inattentive waitstaff. While the vibrant atmosphere and some standout dishes signal potential, consistent quality and service improvements are essential for this establishment to maintain its foothold in the competitive market.

What Rowena Schimmel dislikes about Bartlett's Restaurant:
The grilled artichokes were the highlight of our meal, suggesting that the restaurant had great potential. Unfortunately, the rest of the dining experience felt reminiscent of a visit to Perkins. The prime rib lacked flavor and left me feeling let down, while the spinach was bland and overwhelming. The steak didn’t stand out either, and the burger brought back memories of an average '90s diner. Honestly, there was no... View all feedback.

UPDATE! The Good: The food quality and flavor alone would give it 3 stars. Customer Service is King for 5 stars. Waiter stole our credit card. (Not only the CC, but he was a mess, forgot everything we asked for and our order took forever. We called therestaurant to confirm they had our card and they did. The manager said he would mail us the card. He did not. When we calledback to check on the status of our card; we were told that they would never mail a credit card to a customer. They sitedsecurity reasons. Needless to say this is a management issue. Bad service in a restaurant starts at the top. We have been goingto this restaurant since it was a Bennigan’s … the food is better now than it was as a Bennigan’s but the service for theprice we paid for lunch was awful. Too many good restaurants in Austin‘s to come back to this place. So sad to see a NorthSide establishment fall like this. UPDATE! Remember when we were told by there manager that they would never mail us our creditcard? Well someone did. Not only will they steal your credit they will hold it for a week; lie to you about it’s whereabouts;then mail it to you. Wow!
My husband and I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The steaks were scrumptious and cooked just right! The drinks were excellent, and the service was exceptional. This will certainly become our new favorite steak spot!
The grilled artichokes were the standout dish we tried, giving us hope for a memorable dining experience. Unfortunately, our meal quickly fell short, reminiscent of a lackluster visit to a chain restaurant. The prime rib lacked seasoning and was disappointing, the spinach was overcooked and unappetizing, and the steak was merely average. The burger felt straight out of a '90s steakhouse—seriously, do cooks no longer use salt and pepper? We were also disappointed by the service. If you want to justify your prices, exceptional service is a must, but that wasn’t the case here. Our drink glasses were often empty, our server disappeared for long periods, and it took forever to get the check. We didn’t order any alcoholic beverages, so perhaps that led to us being overlooked—and honestly, I didn't care that much. I left a smaller tip than usual and won’t be returning. Goodbye, '90s! I preferred Stone Temple Pilots anyway.
The artichoke was delicious, and the chimichurri steak sandwich was outstanding—perfectly seasoned and cooked to just the right temperature. The cheeseburger was fantastic too, seasoned to perfection and cooked just right. I recommend skipping the appetizers, as there was already plenty of food.

Bartlett's is one of those restaurants that I often overlook, yet every time I leave, I find myself questioning why I don’t visit more often. The food is always delicious...

I’ve been coming here for year and have never been disappointed. The service is spot on, food excellent in a very pleasant atmosphere. The real wood grill is a nice plus. Enjoy their excellent fish sandwich on a recent visit.
Fantastic service with a charming 90s atmosphere! The French dip was amazing, and my husband really enjoyed his fish sandwich. We also started with the spinach artichoke dip—definitely not necessary, but we savored every bite!
The service was excellent. The food was tasty, but it felt a bit pricey. The bacon cheeseburger was $20, and an iced tea was $3.50.

Service was excellent. eating was tasty, but much overpriced. bacon cheeseburger was $20 and an icy was $3.50
Great dining experience. Should get the famous sandwich and all of their dessert is amazing. Definitely recommend if you?re in town.
The food was delightful, and the service was top-notch. I would advise opting for wine or beer rather than the cocktails, as they didn't quite impress me. The artichoke was delicious, and the chimichurri steak sandwich was exceptional—perfectly seasoned and cooked. The cheeseburger was fantastic as well, expertly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The portions were generous, so I recommend skipping the appetizers—you certainly won’t need them!
My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience at this restaurant. The steaks were exquisite and cooked just right! The drinks were amazing, and the customer service was impressively creative. This will certainly be our new favorite steak place!
