The Mercury Diner is another of our favourite restaurants in Aurora. We have been going there for several years usually for breakfast, often for lunch, and sometimes for coffee and snacks. Confession: I sometimes "throw caution to the wind" and have a toasted honeybun and coffee. (I don't know if you have to be a senior to remember those from your high-school days and to appreciate the memories.) Try them and see wha... View all feedback.
Do you remember Elvis Presley? The 3 Stooges? Betty Boop? If not, it doesn't matter as this place will take you there even if it was before your time. Great decor, authentic cuisine, very friendly service.
It's been many years since i have visited the Mercury Diner but yesterday offered an opportunity.I ordered Eggs Benedict which was always my go-to at this restaurant and I was not disappointed! The portions are VERY generous ... the food is tasty ... cooked right and brought to the table hot ... and the price is quite commensurate with the offering. The staff are friendly and seem genuine in their desire for you to have a good experience.I hope to be back more often than "years".I would have given this review an excellent except for 2 things ... the coffee (at least what i was served), had no taste or it was made very weak .. I suggest you search out a better coffee supplier.Secondly, the lady i had as my server was very pleasant but once she brought the meal she disappeared ... i.e.: no how's your meal? would you like more coffee? are you ready for your cheque? I had to track her down to get a coffee warmup and the cheque ... bit of a training issue maybe, Otherwise great!
Typical diner food, fast, tasty and always pleasant. Good selection from toast and coffee to bacon and eggs. Eat here often.
We wanted to eat some place where there were not going to be huge delays or a lot of "fast food" offerings and this diner served our needs very well. One of us ordered the BBQ Wrap which came with a caesar salad and cole slaw and the other just ordered a side of french fries with the idea that we'd split the wrap. Both items were delivered within 10 minutes of being ordered by a very attentive server named Kelly who came back 3 times during our meal to ask if everything was OK. The salad was huge, the fries were really nicely done (not greasy and over-salted like some places) and the wrap was tasty altho' it did crumble on one side to the point that it could not be eaten by hand. One niggle...the bill came with a separate charge for the cole slaw as well as the salad. ???? why?
Let me first say, I've been here several times before, so not sure if today's visit was a hiccup or the new normal, but it has been great in the past - today's review is solely based on today's visit, which follows:Arrived for breakfast, pretty steady. Withing 30 seconds of coming in, had a coffee in my hand and my kid had an apple juice, thanks to the drink lady. We then sat there for 20 minutes, unrecognized bu any wait staff as they passed by us continuously, menus on table, ready to order. We were sitting 2 seats from the kitchen, so every time someone passed by to put in an order or to deliver food to a table, we were passed. A couple came in sat in the seats ahead of us five minutes after we arrived - they were served by wait staff within five minutes. After the twenty minutes, when my kid had finished colouring her picture, had drank her juice and I had finished my coffee and small top up (the coffee lady was outstanding - the only part that was), we went up to pay for our drinks. We then stood at the checkout for seven or eight minutes while wait staff kept passing us, telling us they'd be with us in a minute. When they finally did help us, almost 30 minutes after arriving, we had to tell them what we were paying for because they didn't know. When I told them why we were leaving, they blamed the coffee lady for 'not writing down we were here, so we were forgotten' - always nice, as a customer to feel like they were forgotten. Then, we were charged for our drinks. Not in a rush to ever go back again. Hoping management gets a copy of this, as they didn't seem to be on the premises and either don't know or don't care how their business is being run. The waitress was more worried on where one of her tables had went, as the occupants were gone and may not have paid - probably due to also not being served and forgotten.
