On the positive side, all of our appetizers were enjoyable, especially the Brussels sprouts. The whole fish and octopus were also good. On the downside, the Arroz a Valenciana was not good at all; the chef went overboard with the spices! It was so overwhelmingly spicy that we struggled to eat it, dripping with sweat in the process. Three of us decided to take a chance on steak due to the limited menu options, but all three were burnt on the outside and overcooked! What was supposed to be medium rare turned out to be medium well, and well done. Not acceptable. The service was decent for the most part, but when we raised our concerns, nothing was done about it. I suppose the server felt he could ignore our issue since he would still receive a 20% tip regardless. Overall, it was a very disappointing meal. We didn’t even want to stay for dessert! I initially planned to give it three stars (rounding up from 2.5), but my companions unanimously urged me to round down to 2.
The venue is beautiful but cozy. The service was outstanding and the food was all delicious. We particularly enjoyed the crispy deep-fried eggplant served with harissa mayo sauce. The bread appetizer was just okay; the spread tasted reminiscent of Philadelphia's salmon cream cheese, so I felt it was a bit overpriced and nothing special. The paella was packed with protein and very flavorful, while the shrimp and scallop pasta was a crowd favorite. The sauce was rich and creamy, with a generous amount of protein once again. I would recommend ordering at least one entrée and one appetizer per person unless you're a light eater or just stopping by for a snack. I also tried the Gobble Gobble cocktail, which was sweet and not too strong in terms of alcohol, making it perfect for those who aren't fond of strong alcoholic flavors, like me. Overall, it's a fantastic place for a special occasion dinner.
Let's start with some very positive aspects. The staff is fantastic! Everyone we spoke with was friendly and helpful. The service was attentive and well above average. The decor is modern, with clean lines and attractive lighting; it creates a lovely atmosphere. The wine list was decent, featuring a few tasty Portuguese options, most of which were reasonably priced at under $100. The food was generally well-seasoned and fitting for the style of the restaurant. However, let's delve into the food a bit more: the Brussels sprouts appetizer was definitely the highlight of our meal. The preparation of the octopus was commendable, but it unfortunately had a fishy taste, which isn't what I expect from that dish. The mussels and clams were even less impressive—once again, the preparation was good, but they also had that same off-putting fishiness. Lastly, I ordered the pasta with shrimp and scallops, which was decent overall, though the shrimp was undercooked and the scallops were small, rubbery, and lacked flavor. I believe the kitchen has some promising recipes, but the quality of the ingredients and cooking techniques needs improvement. Ultimately, this restaurant is not for me.
Just amazing! Very surprising. I think the type of food here is better than the Lake location. I got the Cornish hen and I was surprised by how good it was! The portion is generous enough.. Service is alright, and the atmosphere is relaxing. Comfortable chairs!
Perfect. Ambiance and reception was warm and great start. Appetizers, clams and mussels and warm olives to get us going. Then we moved in to our mains the paella and the halibut in cream sauce. Cooked perfectly and such balanced flavours. Finished w cappuccinos and olive oil cake. This is evenings meal was supposed to be a treat and a quest for well prepared seafood and we felt what we ordered hit the nail on the head. We will return. Menu changes every so often but it seems the chefs know how to handles and treat good ingredients! The halibut with cream and dill was superb. The paella is very enjoyable. Thanks to Dave for making the evening even more warm and enjoyable and special.
