Daniel the waiter is the friendliest guy there is. Good Illy coffee. You've got to be okay with smokers around you. Going earlier tends to be better. Nice vibe.
Cresthill Cafe is a strange place to visit. It is like the old Cafes of yesteryear. Kind of dingy, needs a paint job, I would say what we would call a 'dive '. BUT. it is a wonderful experience eating there. We ate inside where there are only about 4 tables! Outside there were smokers. In fact my friend was not happy and wanted to leave but I had heard about their Hot Beef on Rye and we stayed. 3 of us ate there and the service and food was outstanding. We had nostalgic feelings for the old days of cafes and we could talk to each other without having to scream and shout! The Hot Beef on Rye lived up to it 's reputation and was delicious as were the chips. My friend loved the coffee. The waiter was a super guy, tentative and the service was quick. We had a wonderful lunch there, great food, great service and different for a change to the big, busy, noisy places in the area one usually eats at. Highly recommended but just don 't judge this book by it 's cover!
