The first person we encountered was welcoming and promptly... read more As someone from the countryside, I usually dislike city dining, but the atmosphere here was relaxing. The first person we encountered was welcoming and promptly seated us, even without a reservation. Now, on to the food—it was beautiful! We started with prawns and pork belly (check out the photos). For dinner, we had duck, a crab dish, and everything was excellent. I wish we could have ordered seconds! The chefs were clearly working hard in the background, so thank you for a delightful meal. The staff were exceptionally attentive, especially regarding my heavily pregnant partner's meal. They were quick to ensure her food was prepared safely, which I greatly appreciated. Their care and compassion left a lasting impression on us. This team really knows how to provide excellent service. The drinks were flowing, and I might have had a few too many beers. There were no issues with getting drinks to and from our table. For dessert, we enjoyed cheesecake and another delicious dish (see photos). It was a lovely end to our meal. In terms of pricing, it was absolutely fair and appropriate for the quality of food and service we received. Any complaints about prices shouldn't deter anyone from dining there. We are not wealthy, but we expected a treat night, and the value was even better than we'd anticipated. The only downside I can think of is parking, especially since we were staying at the Grand Hotel. I’m not sure how others would manage, given Auckland City's chaotic parking scene; perhaps the Sky City parking or a taxi would be best. Otherwise, having a direct access door to the hotel foyer was convenient. To everyone who served us last night, thank you again for an amazing dinner. I know we’ll be back one day; it’s a meal we won’t soon forget. Definitely make a stop at the Grill—it’s fantastic. Thanks again, everyone!

The meat... read more I had a fantastic dining experience at The Grill. The menu is impressive, and the food is excellent. The waitstaff are amazing and incredibly friendly. The meats are cooked to perfection, and the sauces are exceptional, especially the miso hollandaise—it's simply divine. The onion rings are a delicious bonus as well. If you're nearby or staying at one of the connected hotels, you should definitely give this restaurant a try. I recommend making a reservation, especially on weekends.
