What User doesn't like about Market Seafood Brasserie:
Located right across from the Auckland fish market, Seafood Central is a restaurant that specializes in serving fresh seafood sourced directly from the manufacturer in the courtyard. My experience there was... View all feedback.
The restaurant has friendly staff and a spacious, cool dining area. The food was decent, but the crayfish dish was served with an overwhelming amount of chips, making it feel more like a 'Chips with Crayfish Garnish'. The plating was not very appetizing, but luckily the portion size was large enough for two people. We ordered an extra salad which we couldn't even touch because we were so full from the crayfish sharing dish. Overall, it was worth the price, but we probably wouldn't order any other large plates or sides if we were to visit again for another crayfish dish.
This place is great! I had the snapper fish and chips today which was super fresh and the batter the best I have had in a long time. We often go here when we have our children with us as it is quick and child friendly. The only negative is that the tables get a bit grubby otherwise it couldn't get any better.

I had never been to Market Cafe before because I always noticed a fishy smell, even though I love fish. However, it seems like they have improved a lot by changing their layout and getting rid of the deli area, which has opened up the space. I decided to stop by for lunch and try their salad options, as I had heard good things about them. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety, quality, and value. They offer three sizes of salad, with the medium being a decent size for only $6.90. There are around 9 options to choose from, ranging from vegetarian to seafood and chicken, all made with fresh and tasty ingredients. I decided to try the prawn with edamame and avocado, pumpkin with pinenut and feta, and the quinoa with cherry tomato - all were delicious! They also offer a range of hot seafood options, such as prawn twisters and other crumbed seafood, served in convenient containers for eating in or takeaway. The coffee, made fresh on site, was good and not bitter at all. The service was good, with a friendly new person on the register who was well supported. It's great to see a cafe refreshing itself and offering tasty, affordable lunch options. Market Cafe now poses strong competition to other local businesses.
Great fresh fish but very noisy and the service, althiugh friendly, is somewhat chaotic. They messed up an order, Great choice of fish but limited vege options.
