Our last visit in 2013 was a birthday celebration with excellent dishes like fresh, crispy battered fish, divine chips, and beautiful tapas platters. We returned expecting the same quality but were very disappointed. The waiter kindly told us there was no fresh fish, no coffee because the machine had broken that morning, and no chef available. My husband’s meal arrived first: poached eggs with cold, undercooked toast and no bacon, which was forgotten. After he finished, my Thai beef salad came out, and it was awful—a pile of grey, glutinous mess over undressed, limp leaves. We had to get coffee from next door, and the entire lunch cost $40, which felt like an outrageous rip-off. On top of that, the whole place smelled of mold. They really need to hire a proper chef or shut down. This simply shouldn’t happen in Auckland. Elizabeth Ellis

My children absolutely love coming here—the friendly chefs help them design and make their own pizzas, while my husband and I enjoy the excellent wine selection and menu. The food is casual but expertly prepared, with warm, local service. Exactly what Remuera needed. Definitely worth a visit!
